Hi everyone,

My wife and I (both Texas Tech students) are visiting some family in Eureka Springs, Arkansas for spring break. Our route has us going through Oklahoma City. My brother, who is a big Sooner fan, told me the best place to eat in OKC was the Daiquiri Zone. I was just wondering if there were any other suggestions. Neither of us like seafood, but besides that, we're pretty much up for anything unique to OKC.

down in bricktown near the Daiquiri Zone, there are probably 20 or more restaurants. It depends on what kind of food you want.

yeah, tell us what type of food you want and we can help you out

Daquiri Zone?
Unfortunately, you don't like seafood or I'd rec Sushi Neko

Earl's Rib Palace

I don't know why someone thought Daiquiri Zone was the best place to eat..unless they meant there's never a wait there

there's BBQ, Mexican, Burgers, Steaks, Hooters...

Let's see.

How about a good place for a chicken fried steak?

And God Bless Hooters, but we've got one of those here in Lubbock, and I've been to half a dozen locations across Texas.

When you get to Eureka Springs go to the Autumn Breeze, pricey but really good.

Bricktown Brewery has good chicken fried steak

CenTech

It is funny you'd suggest that. I live within walking distance of a Pad Thai place here in Lubbock.

Bricktown is the name of the area...Bricktown Brewery is the name of the restuarant that has good chicken fried steak..it's right next to daiquiri zone. daiquiri zone is kinda neat, really..flat screen tv's at every table. good if you want to watch march madness. they also have some recliners in the bar area where you can watch the big screen tv's.

If you want a good chicken fried steak, Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill is the place.

You're welcome.

Chicken fried Steak - Ann's Chicken Fry on NW Expressway

I suggest Pearl's on 63rd - Andouille Chicken Dinner

i'm thinking they probably don't want to venture that far away from I-40

bricktown is ideal.

Daiquiri Zone SUCKS. If you are going to Bricktown, I second the Brewery recommendation.

i wouldn't say daiquiri zone SUCKS...but they are a bit pricey for what they offer.

I'll second (or third or whatever) the Bricktown recommendation. You'll be able to find a restaurant that has whatever you're in the mood for, and you'll be driving by it anyway.

CenTech

Yeah, I suppose that's not such a big coincidence. I've never had thai food, and don't particularly care to start trying it now.

And actually, we'll becoming through on 44. We're leaving from my in-laws place in Abilene.

But you're taking I-40 to Arkansas, aren't you? Take I-44 to I-40. Even if you're going through Tulsa it's not any farther to take I-40 past downtown/Bricktown instead of staying on I-44.

well...from 44 you can take 40, stop in bricktown, and then get back on 44 that way

if you want an area rich in restaurants and variety, that's what i recommend plus bricktown is pretty cool..neat stuff to see there.

soonerbrat
3/10/2006, 01:02 PM
oh yeah...you gotta get onto I-40 to get to arkansas anyway.

I'm not really all that familiar with Oklahoma. I just know Mapquest puts us on 44 'til up around Tulsa. I imagine we'll jump over to I 40 in OKC though, and go to this Bricktown area. Will we see it from the highway?

If you know what you're looking for. It's not like there's a big flashing sign or something. It's easy to find, though; it's adjacent to the freeway.

For CFS, i would recommend Kendall's. It's in Purcell now, but they have the best bar none.

I guess Bricktown Brewery has good food if you are drunk enough.

Use the Lincoln exit. Take a RIGHT at the stopsign off the exit ramp, take a LEFT on Reno just past the railroad crossing and that'll put you where you need to be.

Toby's CFS reminds me of Kendall's.

So they finally did open back up in Purcell? I'll have to go get me some soon. :texan:

I don't know where in Purcell, but they did re-open to a bigger place. Evidently the rent was more in Norman than in Purcell. Go figure.

Of course, i can't see how he could make more money in Purcell.

Kendall's is behind that hotel just off I-35. Get off at the McDonald's exit (91) and go just past the Ace Hardware and you'll see it on the right (SE side of road).

They're also reopening back in their original location in Noble. They're remodeling the place and will open soon.

They have the best CFS, and hamburgers and onion rings around.
