How about a top 3? Here is mine...
1) 86-87 Nostalgia based...T-Mac, Choo, DJ, Grace, Grant, King I thought we were Final Four bound for sure that year. Preseason SI #4, pic of Boz with Choo in headlock. Great win over UNLV. Some let-downs and disappointing OT loss to Iowa in the dance.

2) 87-88 My HS team went undefeated and won state. I thought the Sooners had the same Mojo. I literally almost cried after the loss to KU in the champ game. Grant, King, Sieger, Grace, Mookie, Mullins, Wiley (the Creator), Mike Bell (the Helicopter), & Tony Martin, Pollard, Ski. Huge recruiting class...remember these names - Vladimir McCrary, Lance Kroll, and John Potter?

3) 89-90 Super fun, fast breaking/3 point bombing team. Lots of points scored that year. Skeeter, Tyrone Jones, William Davis, Terry Evans, & others.

i'd say the team that lost to Memphis St.....or 89-90. it's hard to single out any one of the years with Choo, DJ, etc.

hon. mention: the team that won the Big 8 and lost to Indy State--79? with Al Beal, John McCullogh, Terry Stotts, Cary Carribine, Aaron Curry etc. the Chuckie Barnett/David Little teams were fun too.

My all-time favorite is the 1988 team. They were absolutely breathtaking in their run to the title game by waxing the floor with Villanova, Louisville and Auburn along the way and it was quite mind-numbing watching them dismantle Arizona in the Final Four. I never imagined that Tom Tolbert, Steve Kerr and Sean Elliott would get taken to the woodshed like they were. It's a shame they couldn't turn the third-time trick against Kansas in the title game. Ricky Grace, Mookie Blaylock, Stacy King, Harvey Grant and Dave Seiger were the best starting 5 in the country that year.

I always thought Wiley was the helicopter. oh well. I was in 8th grade that year they lost to KU and I remember loading up after a baseball game in Elk City and it was tied 50-50 and thought OU will go ahead and kill em in the second half. When I got home and found out they lost I just about cried.

that was probably my favorite team.

second favorite would be the Tisdale, Kennedy team you spoke of.
I loved the little underhand layup Kennedy would do over the front of the rim. I remember doing that in 5th grade basketball in Norman (i lived in Noble) and my coach putting me on the bench.

3rd favorite was the Price, White, McGhee final four team. They could lock you down on Defense and make it so exciting to watch defensive basketball. The letdown in the final four still hurts.

oh, my first OU player I remember. Jan Panel(sp) #11 I believe.

The '88 team sounds Hard-Core from all the stories I've heard and video I've seen growing up, but I was only 1. I cried when we lost to Indiana. I was so emotionally attatched to that team.

I'm with you here for two reasons.

1. It was the first time in thirty some odd years the Sooners made the tournament. I think alot of people forget we were basketball crap for a long time, even with Alvin Adams

2. We beat the Whorns in the first round.:D

Tidale finished up in 1985.

Kennedy's underhand layup often turned into a quasi-180 dunk. He was a tremendous inside (undersized) player. His game suffered in 86-87 when Grant arrived and Choo got moved out to the perimeter.

First game I attended was the 86-87 Sooners win over Derrick Chievous and Mizzou at Lloyd Noble. McAlister hit a deep 3 from the corner with 6 ticks left to give OU the win 81-78. Crowd went ballistic and I've been hooked ever since.

This year's team was so predictable, it made me feel like Ms. Cleo...so that works in favor of 05-06.

1. Tisdale's last year.
2. The 88 team.
3. David Little's senior year. (This was the first year I remember watching basketball and actively rooting for a team).

Just to clarify:

Andre "The Creator" Wiley
Mike "Helicopter" Bell

'88 and '90 were just too damn fun to watch. When those guys got rolling, forget it.

'88. shocking.

'02. We should have beat Indiana.Total agreement. Shocking, indeed., and inexcusable. IMO Tubbs was never the same. We got reffed(again) against Indiana in '02.
