View Full Version : Who wants to see if Homeland Security thinks I'm a terrorist?

I thought of a way to see if the story that Hatfield linked about the woman who tried to pay off her credit card bill but was interferred with by Homeland Security .

Here is what she tried to do. Her balance was 3500~ and she made one payment of 2900~ using her account and somehow used her sister's account for the other remaining 650. Homeland Security blocked the 650 and she was charged 140 in an "interest overcharge".

Here is my experiment.

I booked my honeymoon in January with the expectation of using my year end bonus to pay it off. My bonus is coming in on Monday and I was going to use that to pay off the balance of 3800~.

Here are my options.

1) Use their system to pay off the balance.
2) Use BOA bill pay to pay off the balance.
3) Use their system to pay off 3150 and BOA to payoff 650.
4) Use their system to pay off 3150 and write a check off my old account at BancFirst.
5) See if I can pay off the balance using their system but with two different accounts. I don't think this is possible, because I think they delay your option of paying when you change accounts.
6) See if I can get my Mother to make a payment on my account using her checking account.

Any ideas?

Steal the money from an armored car to pay it off. That should do it.

An account from the Bahama's should do the trick.

UAE would be ideal right now.

I wonder what would happen if you used paypal from six different accounts in one day?

Wait for one of those Nigerian business opportunity emails, shouldn't take longer than a couple of days. Go for it.

you could also just make a really large payment. that happened to another couple. I posted that link in the thread you ref.

You're going to be hosed if you get a 'Jelly of the Month Club' bonus.

My wife is Russian and I think she still has an account opened in St Petersburg. I'll have to think about that one.

Too easy.

Sometimes, if I've had a few.

So, is that a vote for option 1? What about paying a little more than the balance? Would that raise a red flag?

Clearly there's something wrong with our economy if you get a bonus and have time to screw around....on........an......internet......message ....board

Maybe the bonus relates to me giving up all of my weekends and working 12 hour days for two months during an acquisition. ;)
