It looks like Bill is set to make ANOTHER ton of money. A hand held touch screen computer.

We anticipate pricing in the US$599-$999 price-range.

I think it looks cool but it would probably be another 5 years before I would think about seriously buying it.

if this is real, MS will be defeated, no, destroyed.

They think that this thingy will be as big as mobil phones? Ha. Tell me another one Microsoft. For something to be "big" it needs fill a need and/or become something that we (feel) can't do without. How many people 10 years ago needed a cell phone? How many of you today feel you can't do without one? I don't see the UMPC fitting into that same category.

Imagine using that while eating jelly.

Who knows about this product. I thought Microsoft would fail when they introduced the X-Box or phones with text messaging (you have a phone and can call people, why would you need to waste the time to send an e-mail).

Well, now if they integrate x-box and text messaging functionality into it along with wireless conectivity, then they may have something. All these kids will be playing games and messaging each other while while walking around at the mall (and bumping into me while I actually try to shop).

Isn't that the PSP?

Nokia was the first to do this in the early 90's in Europe, LONG before MS stole the idea... :D

Probably. I'm not that up on state-of-the-art personal technologies. I've got a laptop and a cell phone and I think I'm set with all the technology I need. Any technology that changes my personal behaviors is something that I am not going to use. I stick to technolgy that makes me more productive within the construct of my everyday life. If this Origami thingy does that, then I may be interetested - in five years.
