I am not sure how accurate this is- I am not surprised based on his highlight reels that he has been clocked at a 4.37 - do we think he will get PT and shouldn't we use him in the return game- like Barry Sanders when he was a feshman behind Thruman.

High school 40 times seem basically meaningless.

Just compare how many high school kids run sub 4.40 40s, versus how many NFL prospects do at the combine -- somewhere along those 4 years, a whole lot of really fast kids get a *lot* slower.

Sure, some may be due to bulking up and slowing down a tad, but a lot of it is due to totally unreliable measurements at the high school level.

I wouldn't trust any time that didn't come from a camp.

Last May at the Palo Alto Nike Camp, DeMarco measured:
Height: 6-foot-0.5
Weight: 183 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.52 seconds
Shuttle speed: 4.5
Bench press: 13 reps
Vertical leap: 33.5 inches

The year before that he was at:
Height: 6-foot-0
Weight: 185 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.49 seconds
Shuttle speed: 4.63
Bench press: 8 reps
Vertical leap: 32.1 inches

Didn't we already establish many moons ago that 40 times are bogus? My guess is that his 4.49 or 4.52 translates into lateral speed. His film was off the charts. He looked like he could 180 on a dime.

Looks like he shaved quite a bit off his shuttle sped from those nike camps.

The bench press stat leaps out at me....over 50% improvement....the boy is a worker.

I would run 40s and certainly- if you ran 3- or 4 times you ussually were able to run it faster- I am assuming if he can hit a 45 flat at anytime- he could also hit a 4.37 if he was running more than a couple.

How many chances do you get to run the 40 at Nike Camp before they give you a time.

Plus take into account wind speed and direction, surface type, shoes/spikes/cleats, clothing worn, etc. Keep in mind we are talking about 10ths of seconds here, not minutes. Every little ridiculous thing is a factor. But then, they are football players, not track athletes, so the relevance of the 40 comes into question again. In the end, it is his agility, acceleration, and field vision that play more of a factor in his success than his speed.

The only ?question? that I would have is the level of competition in Las Vegas. I know there are a few quality players from that area but overall it is suspect. Has he really been hit hard 20-30 times a game. Just a thought? It aint Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Fla. or Cali.

How much weight did he bench press 13 times?

225 is the standard at the combine, i'm not sure if that's what this is referring to or not.

Not for sure, but high school usually does reps of 185.

He maxes at 265- so if he did 225 13 times I would think he could bench 300 or better- so 185 makes sense.
