One of my biggest issues is getting bread that isn't soft enuff.
I grew up on rainbow bread thin sandwich style that was very soft and enjoyable to eat.
I then became a thin sandwich wonder bread kinda guy. However, over the past two years its dang near impossible to get bread that isn't already half stale. I had the problem in bartlesville and now out here in the panhandle. Anyone else notice the bread just isnt' as good as it once was.

I like crusty crust. Growing up, I hated the sponge-bread. Now, I can pick he-man breads of all types without fear that my pb&j will become the consistency of an oyster.

check the twist tie or clip that's on the loaf...there's a different color for each day it is delivered

Monday - Blue

Tuesday - Green

Thursday - Red

Friday - White

Saturday - Yellow

I contend that the quality of a sandwich is first defined by its bread. The order of importance for me goes:

1. Bread
2. Cheese
3. Condiments
4. Meat
5. Veggies (as long as they're fresh and not full of chemicals, I'm happy)

Good bread makes the sammich. A nice crusty roll, or some ciabatta, or focaccia, maybe half a baguette.

I still remember the morons when we went to France complaining that "the bread is all stale and hard!" Freaking hillbillies. ;)

the best kind of sammich bread is the kind my grandpa used to buy. the slices would tear perfectly in half. I don't know why, but it was awesome.

I'm not saying the bread in France is the pinnacle of the baking craft, but complaining that a French baguette is crusty on the outside? There's a word for people like that, and the word is "dingleberry".

IT IS CRUSTY ON THE OUTSIDE

lord...what else would you call it? when you need a damn brick to crack it open, to get just a smidgen of soft bread inside......whats the point? the bread in france sucks, there is nothing good about it

Heh. I think I'll start sending you a loaf of French bread for Christmas every year, just to annoy you. ;)
