The Supremes should get this sometime in 2009. It's going to be an interesting fight. South Dakota may be jumping the gun, but I understand why they did it now.

why am I so utterly not-surprised-at-all that a blog post like this would appear very shortly after this bill was signed by the governor? why is that?

There are, I think, 4 or 5 states working on similar laws, but South Dakota's legislature got into session first, so they won, I guess. :)

ok, so I didn't look at the date...

so if I am reading things correctly, then it would seem that in SD, would be perfectly OK for a woman to give herself an abortion? (since the mother cannot be charged under the SD law)

is this correct?

the "manual" isn't for the mother, it's for some non-doctor to perform the abortions on her friends and family ;)
