Yo Cap, I know its just for laughs, but OU is in the top 50 public schools in the nation. Oklahoma is a very good school, and is difficult to get into. I worked my *** off to get in, and went to bed nervous every night fearing that I wouldnt be accepted. I think both of our schools should be proud of their academic success.

I agree with you actually. And I think in relative terms ATM plays good football and would be Top 50 or so in public schools at college football. But to talk smack about UT's academics (what prompted the post) is as delusional as aggies talking smack about football championships. Not sure if that makes sense and I short-handed it only for impact and furor. It is the off-season.

Mallen - I think the subtlety of my point has been lost in the gregarioius presentation. I'm to blame for that. I'm simply responding to the delusion of taking knocks at UT's academics when your school barely cracks the Top 50. Not that barely cracking the Top 50 should be frowned upon. I agree that OU is a good academic institution. Just not at the same level as Texas.

The state legislature isn't helping your rep with the Top 10% qualifying for admission. Some of the kids being admitted are not of the quality that used to be admitted - sorry, sad but true.
Within a few years, the academic ranking is going to drop a few notches.
Also, more of the brightest from the North Texas area aren't giving your school a look. Parents aren't thrilled to be paying that kind of money for classes that huge. Many are now going out of state, the numbers going to OU are rising.

Interestingly enough, rankings have more to do with being a reaseach university as opposed to the quality of the product at a classroom level.

At least that's what the people at UTSA are saying in support of becoming more of a research institution.

Hey Mallen and others - VY didn't score a 6. It's the worst bit of tarnishment I've seen in a while given that everyone involved says it is not true. Run with it while you can for humor sake, but please understand that your point cannot be taken seriously by anyone other than those who like chosing to ignore the truth.

UT is a better academic institution than OU in the same manner that UT has a better football program than ATM. Sorry, but that's just the way it is whether it's because of research or other grading tangibles. All the excuses in the world and all the wishful thinking (we're getting better and you're not) won't change it.

I do notice that OU has been improving so there is now a good chance that your university will soon suffer the same complaints (too costly, big class size, etc.) that our school suffers. I hope OU does continue to flourish and improve its rankings. No doubt that the money from big time college athletics has become more concentrated and that is starting to pay off for many, many institutions including yours.

According to you whorns, UT is SO HARD to get into and get a degree from, and the education is SO lofty I'd expect at least a thirty from anyone that stays eligible. Something has to give, and maybe yo're just going to have to admit that UT is a public university where idiots can stay eligible.

He originally got a 6. They allowed him to retake it, because the media got out of hand with the reporting and it seemed impossible for anyone to score so low. Mack Brown and Shaun Alexander came to his aid and they let him take it again. They threw out the original test score and his retake score of 16 became his original test score. Either way, he's not terribly intelligent. He is, however, an extraordinary athlete. I'm relatively certain saxet had to bend over backward to keep him eligible.

The original test was invalid. Nobody has confirmed a 6 Sapper. If you read the reports they emphatically deny that he ever got a 6.

It really is dumb. Dude got a 16 when the test was properly administered. That's not great, but its just slightly below average intelligence. For a football player, it's not bad. The equivalent of a Dan Marino in intelligence scores.

The scoring is IQ based and does not account for how hard a student works or other factors that go into their grades.

This whole thing is a typical pile of sh!t and being fueled mainly by people wanting a story to report. Continue to dogpile though. You guys are good at it as long as it doesn't involve one of your cherished players.

I think your last QB scored about a 21. Not exactly a rocket scientist either.

To disparage academics at either school is wrong. Both schools are fine schools.

To disparage the academics of any player majoring in Kinesiology (aka, "PE class as a major") IS correct. I'm sorry, any program in which you get major credit for taking hours in basketball, football, fencing, track, etc... that program NEEDS to have it's academics disparaged.

And yes kids, the kid with the low Wonderlic score did major in kinesiology.
