SETTING THE STAGE: Oklahoma and Arizona meet for the fifth time this year in the consolation round of the ACHA D1 National Championship Tournament…Oklahoma lost yesterday 4-3 in overtime to 5th seeded Iowa State…Arizona lost yesterday 3-2 in overtime to 7th seeded Lindenwood…The winner of today’s game will finish the 2005-2006 season ranked 11th in the nation while the loser will finish 12th.

OKLAHOMA NOTES: The Sooners visited Tucson for two games earlier this season, losing 6-3 and winning 5-1…Later in the season, Oklahoma hosted Arizona in Oklahoma City, beating them 7-3 and then losing the next night 5-3…Oklahoma has faced Arizona eight times over three years, carrying an all-time record of 6-2-0 against the Wildcats…The Sooners got goals yesterday from Owen Brewer, Adrian Borchgrevink and Danny Force…Aaron Schmeilski was outstanding in net yesterday for OU, stopping 54 of 58 shots he faced from Iowa State…As has come to be expected, Oklahoma has great fan support on the road and the National Tournament is no different: the talk of the first day of the tournament was Oklahoma’s incredible fan support as well as Oklahoma’s impressive showing on the ice against a traditional ACHA power in Iowa State…Today’s game against Arizona will be broadcast on the internet - Sooners Hockey fans can listen to the game by going to http://wire.ou.edu and clicking the appropriate LISTEN NOW link prior to game time.

ARIZONA NOTES: Arizona is ranked 10th I the nation in the final regular season ACHA D1 coaches poll…The Wildcats lost yesterday 3-2 in overtime to Lindenwood when goaltender Luke Edwall allowed a Lindenwood shot from the corner to deflect off his skate into the Arizona net 7:08 into OT…Tom Connell is ineligible for today’s contest due to receiving a game disqualification penalty in yesterday’s game…Arizona won the college club hockey championship in 1985.
