Well-known actor Dennis Weaver once was a track and field performer at the University of Oklahoma... He has died.

Weaver appeared in dozens of TV movies, the most notable being the 1971 "Duel." It was a bravura performance for both fledgling director Steven Spielberg and Weaver, who played a driver menaced by a large truck that followed him down a mountain road. The film was released in theaters in 1983, after Spielberg had become director of huge moneymakers.

Finished third in the decathlon at the Kansas Relays scoring 6,126 points
(won the 1500 meter)
Member of the winning mile relay team in state AAU championships

1948
Finished fourth in the decathlon in the Drake Relays (won the 1500 meter)
Placed in the hop, step jump in the Drake Relays
Placed in three events in the Oklahoma-Oklahoma A&M dual (won high jump, third in pole vault and third in the broad jump)
Won the high jump and placed second in the pole vault at the state AAU meet
