Darren McGavin has passed away at age 83.
It won't be the same as we watch "A Christmas Story" and wonder if Ralphie'll shoot his eye out, or crack up over the saga of the leg lamp.
I also remember well Mr. McGavin's great performances as "Kolchak, The Night Stalker".
RIP, Mr. McGavin. You gave us much.

Night Stalker was top shelf, as well as his role in A Christmas Story.

Seems like Don's passing would have made a bigger splash.

I once saw him on a cruise ship. He put the "D" in "DRUNK."

Darren McGavin has passed away at age 83.

Holy carp! That would make him 60 when he was in a Christmas Story. That can't be right, can it? He looked a little old to be Ralphie's father, but not that old.

What a shame. Darren McGavin is my hero the entire month of December, every year. I even made my own acting debut last year playing the Old Man in "A Christmas Story" the play.

RIP
