Why would anyone choose to go to Lubbock.

That is just absurd! :mack:

What is Spike's last name?

What if he married Marsha?

I see a pay raise in Sherri's near future anyhow.

No chance at getting Sherri. Why would she leave a team with no seniors and a great freshman class coming in?

I'm sure the idea will be dismissed quickly. But for the sake of argument...:

1. She was born and raised in Oklahoma.

2. Her entire immediate famliy including her husband and her own two young children are settled in Oklahoma.

3. She has one of the best players in NCAA, perhaps ever, playing for her right now as a freshman. Plus a pile of other very good talent and experience coming back.

4. She has the number one recruiting class in the country coming in next year.

5. She has basically created the identity of Sooner basketball and the school is infatuated with her, understandibly so. They aren't going to let her go without a huge fight.

6. She's super hot. I'm not really sure what that has to do with anything, but I just felt it needed to be mentioned.

The only two openings I can possibly see here are money and tradition. I'm pretty darn sure Tech isn't delirious enough to think they can outbid OU for any head coach when it comes down purely to money. So then Tech has to argue that their previous national titles in the sport are a reason for her to go over there. There is a point here, but to counter that, what has Tech done lately? They certainly have been good, but they haven't been winning national titles. And the one coach who has done that for them is leaving at the age of 53, a very young age for any coach to decide to 'retire'. That suggests that there are some things going on in the background that we just don't know about. I'm pretty sure Sherri, as well as anybody, would be sensitive to that.

There is also one other thing that isn't quite as tangible but I think is important. I've never really heard of a head coach leaving one program for another head coaching job in the same conference. It's definitely not out of the question, but has anybody ever heard of such a thing happening in any major sport? It wouldn't be a very popular thing to do I would think.

"So then Tech has to argue that their previous national titles in the sport are a reason for her to go over there."
Unless they won one in the pre-Sharp era, that would be ONE title, & it's now 13 years old. Like you, somehow, I'm not seeing that as the biggest draw anymore.

There was indeed a time when Tech was the better program. That time is not now.

I'm sure Sherri will leave OU now, because if she stays she would have to put up with the Paris twins for three more years. Why would she want to do that?

Yeah, I'm plenty tired of other schools coming after our coaches...and acting like their program is somehow more desirable than OU! FAT CHANCE, fools.
