The Big XII can send 38 this year, I believe. First three at each weight, and then eight wildcards.

According to this, OU would send six for sure.

I think Rowe is coming back (he wrestled against OSU and has a win over OSU's Ward). If so, I like our chances there.

I think Rowe, King and Roberts would get a wildcard, which brings us to nine. Only Blakely gets left out. Not sure where Comparin fits in, if he's able to come back at all.

i sure hope your right about sending 9. that and maybe a little bit of luck and a few upsets along the way and we could be right up there at the very top of winning it all. i hate to admit it, but i think we'll need some help along the way and a few wrestlers stub their toes in the process.

askren from mizzou is going to win it all unless he doesn't make weight. that's about the only way he won't win it all.

askren is the only one out of all of those that i feel is a TRUE shoe-in to win the ncaa's.

Nine is my optimist number. Six is my glass-half-empty number.

Even if Comparin comes back, I'm not sure he'd be in "competition" condition. We're probably going to be void at 133.

Roberts has been injured and he looked winded against Mason. He's going to have to upset someone to be in for sure.

On the other hand, he's a senior who has missed parts of several years due to injuries, but has stuck it out. Maybe he can get a sympathy wild card.

Askren is a stud, plain and simple. I'd like to agree with the sentiment about his shoe-in as champon, but I've seen much stranger things at the NCAAs.

One more dual.

When: 7 p.m. Thursday
Where: McCasland Field House, Norman

Lineups
(OU wrestlers listed first)
125: Sam Hazewinkel (25-0) vs. Nick Simmons (28-0)
133: Trey Blakely (6-15) vs. Jeff Wimberley (10-19)
141: Teyon Ware (20-1) vs. Andy Simmons (28-3)
149: Matt Storniolo (21-3) vs. Darren McKnight (19-13)
157: Will Rowe (17-7) vs. Tony Greathouse (13-14)
165: Jarrod King (15-9) vs. Bryan Harney (6-11)
174: Wes Roberts (8-5) vs. R.J. Boudro (23-5)
184: Justin Dyer (16-10) vs. Joe Williams (8-11)
197: Joel Flaggert (18-3) vs. Jeff Clemens (14-16)
285: Jake Hager (25-3) vs. Max Lossen (12-14)

Quick look: The Sooners close the dual season against the Spartans in the final home appearance for five OU seniors. Austin David, a heavyweight, and Shane Kidd, a 133-pounder, have been used sparingly throughout their OU careers. The other three seniors have been regulars. . . . Wes Roberts had a decorated junior and high school career but has been curtailed by injuries throughout his six years at OU. A knee injury has limited him to 13 matches this year at 174 pounds. . . .

Jake Hager came to OU on a football scholarship, but the former two-time state champ at Perry joined the wrestling program full time in 2003. Since devoting his attention strictly to wrestling, Hager has become one of the better heavyweights in the country. . . . Teyon Ware, an Edmond North graduate, is a two-time national champion and three-time All-American at 141 pounds. He will face the fifth-ranked wrestler in his class Thursday, Michigan State's Andy Simmons. . . . Simmons' older brother, Nick, is undefeated and ranked third at 125 pounds. He faces OU unbeaten Sam Hazewinkel, ranked second. Hazewinkel beat Simmons in last year's NCAA third-place match.

Sam beat him at the NWCA match this year. Pretty soundly. But it doesn't count in the record books.

But it happened none the less.

If Roberts can beat Boudro, this would help him in any seedings for the Big Twelve and possibly Nationals.

agreed 100%. my point being if anyone is a shoe-in, it's him. he's going to have to pull a "shawn garel"   to not win it all this year.
