Hey guys,
My wife & I would like to spend a few days away from DFW in a secluded B&B type place (B&B, rental cabin, etc)... basically from Lake Texhoma and points eastward. Any recommendations for places to look at? I have no clue what is east of 35 (although I can tell you some kickass sights in the Panhandle :D ). This would be around sprink break next month.

Yes! The Beavers Bend area in SE Oklahoma is very nice. Do a search, there are tons and tons of really nice cabins around there. There is also Cedar Creek golf course which is an interesting state course....if you're into that sort of thing.

Here are a few.... http://www.beaversbendcabins.com/cabins.htm

if you want to travel a bit further north you can get a cabin at greenleaf. it is a nice little place with cabins and campsites. the family has been going over there for about the last decade and we always have a good time.

+1 for Beaver's Bend.

And bring a fishing pole and some 'Balls of Fire' salmon eggs. Catch you some trout!

Lake Texoma is only cool at certain times of year. I know this for a fact because I lived a stones throw away for 10 years. However Chicksaw Pointe golf course owns just about every other course in Oklahoma or Texas.

Beaver Lake in Arkansas is much nicer than anything in Oklahoma I think.

This place looks cool. Thinking of getting away for a few days here...

Another vote for Broken Bow Lake if a secluded cabin is really what you're looking for. A couple of the the ones at Beavers Bend State Park have fireplaces but no TV's or phones. IMO there is not a nicer lake in Oklahoma. I'm not aware of any B&B places in the area. The nearest town is Broken Bow and it's nothing special. A great place if you are looking for outdoor activities (fishing, hiking, etc.) and fixing most of your own meals. A word of caution, however. Your wife could find it boring in which case you won't enjoy it much either.

Beavers Bend would be my vote too. not real sure about Chickasaw Pointe owning other courses in OK or Tex.....for the region and not on either coast (and minus the Chicago-land area).....OK and Tex have a pretty respected list of golf courses.

Mine enjoyed it.....of course it was summer, so there was more to do. They went to the marina/state park at BB Lake and they had few things to do in there. A small museum for one thing.....they like that, said it was interesting. I'm not sure what else is down in the state park area.

I grew up working at the Fin. The best food, the best scenes, oh wait, it doesn't open until Easter Sunday, nevermind. sorry.

I'd stay at ZaZa in Dallas and pretend I was in SE Oklahoma.

I've lived in Broken Bow near 50 years. There is no place in arkansas as pretty. If you want wilderness try Eastfork cabin. Located on the east fork of glover river yet two story deluxe cabin. Or pm me for any number of other local activities.
