Why is JD not going to the combine?

The only Sooners going are as follows:
Chester
Dvoracek
Ingram
Davin Joseph
Chijioke
Travis Wilson

I'm going to guess that it's because the NFL doesn't like FBs anymore. They are all about the 'H' Back, which JD would be awesome at. It's still not enough to get him invited to the dog show.

As I take a closer look at the list of invitees, I noticed that there not any FB listed. There are a few FB invited, they are listed as a RB. I agree JD should be there, even if he barely ever ran the ball.

All these spreads and west coast variants (traditional west coast has a bad a$$ FB - Tom Rathman, anybody) have no room for a FB. They want a million receivers at one time on the field. JD would be a good 'H' Back in my opinion.

The Steelers could probably use JD with Bettis retiring.

I can see him going to the Packers. Henderson is getting old.

I thought J.D said that he already has a broadcasting job lined up for him.. no NFL for him?

JD's going to play in the league. Afterwards, yeah, he'll be a great broadcaster.

I think we will feel JD's departure next year. Here's to somebody stepping up big in the Spring.

Understatement of the year... :(

Some surprising people didn't get invited. Our OG Will Allen and DT Larry Dibbles didn't get an invite. Doesn't mean they won't get drafted but definitely not on the first day.

Our MLB Aaron Harris didn't get invited either.

yup. I said the same thing about Seth Littrell. You need a guy back there willing to take on anybody to save the QB's butt

Please, tell us more about what's going on with saxeT!

Herr,

Your sig has made me lose all respect for Ronnie Lott. Thanks for ruining my day?

Just trying to relate that some very deserving players on a lot of teams don't get invited there and that it's not the end of the world. OU has a day where NFL scouts come to Norman right?

This guy thinks so too. ;)

Of course, there's Vince Young, who leaves Texas as arguably the greatest college quarterback of all-time with a 34-2 record as the starter along with a national title.

Come on Herr.... you can't actually believe that he's the greatest college QB of all time, can you? I mean.... think about that statement.

C'mon, let me bask in his glory for a few more months at least. ;)

That's understandable... but we all know it's not realistic. I'm not saying VY wasn't great. Obviously saxeT wouldn't have won without him... but the greatest of all time? Whoa baby!

Doesn't matter much that they didn't invite J.D. He will be a starting fullback in the NFL. He may not get drafted but he will be a starter.

I think JDs agent had something to do with it. JD has since got a new one. But also the fact that he doesn't have the size of an HBack and the full back is a dying position in the NFL. If JD were 6-2 250 he would get more looks instead he's about 5-11 250.

Harris not getting an invite is odd... But it doesn't really matter anymore. With the local NFL days, it's easy to get respect without going to the combine.
