Partly posted on another board I've added a few.

This is a photo of a player named Roger Eason. I don't know the exact year. Probably in the 40's

Here's another good photo from the later 50's of Clendon Thomas. When the numbers were added to the helmets

The late Ben Hart in 1964 or 1965. The helmets were changed slightly I'm guessing for protection. The next year OU changed to the interlocking OU. And the color of the helmet was also changed. The OU on the helmets was more rouned. After another year it was changed to more of a paperclip and outside of the obvious evolutions of the helmet(color of the face masks and face masks changes in general) it's been the same every since. Also when the helmets were changed the numbers were put on the back of the helmets.

Barry Switzer hugging Joe Washington. You can see the name in the back. I think it was in 74 or 75 I think. I believe the names were added in the back in 73 but it coulda been 74.

The next big uniform changes wer in 1980. We started wearing OKLAHOMA at home. SOONERS was on the road. Here's two JC Watts photos from that season.

I think this may have gone on for 2 seasons. But by 1982 we went with SOONERS full time.

The next changes were in 95. Schnelly made us wear the trimming on the side and the stripes on the pants. We also went with OKLAHOMA and SOONERS but this time it was SOONERS at home OKLAHOMA on the road

In 2000 that changed back to SOONERS and that's the way it's been since then.

There's also been a lot of slight color changes as you can see but if I were to go through color changes this thread would be way too damn long.

I didn't remember the OKLAHOMA ones from 1999. I thought that was a Schnelly/Blakeism. Didn't know they were around in 1980 either.

I like all the cool sparkly paint we use on the helmets now - looks like a sports car.

The Schnelley unis were the worst.

I always liked OKLAHOMA on the road whites and SOONERS on the home reds.

I think the Boz era uni's were the worst. Any time I watch a game from then they always stick out. Maybe it was the huge neck guards everybody wore...

My favorite:

I remember thinking how awesome those looked during the game. I obviously like our standard uni's now, but that throwback was pretty sharp.

I don't think that was really the uniforms though. Because they are basically the same uniforms we wear now. There's a slight color difference if you look but it's basically the same with everything else. The pads then were just so much bigger. And the neck guards of course.

Tell you how much I pay attention, I still thought it said Oklahoma on the road whites.

I think the Boz era uniforms were the best. Maybe because I was there at the time but these jersey's were very cool. Kind of an old school style. Only beaten in coolness by the old tear away jerseys of the 70's. By the end of the game some of the running backs on had a few strings for a jersey.

I really disliked the stripes on the uniforms when Berger was here.

Didn't we wear some stripeless pants at some point during the Gibbs era, maybe 94 or so? I could swear I remember seeing a picture in the paper of Scott Blanton--I think it was a road game, maybe the Syracuse game, but his pants had no stripes and an OU logo on the hip.

Nice work Zepp! A great diversion for the offseason.

I like the current crimson way better than the older days of red.

couple things: DeMond Parker didn't play for OU in 99. and Cedric Jones pic doesn't have teh stripes on the pants, either.

NickZeppelin
2/24/2006, 01:41 PM
How can you tell on the Ced Jones pic? His leg is turned away from the picture. There's no way to say for sure if he has a stripe or not. The Stephen Alexander pic was from the same year so I have to assume he has the stripe on the side but there's no way to tell for sure.

I never said Parker played in 99. I was referring to the next pic when I said we still had OKLAHOMA on the hame games in 99.
