I lost 38 pounds last year on Atkins and then celebrated and gained it back.
This year I've lost about 15 so far but I'm sick of Atkins, literally.
The company had pizza brought in yesterday and I cheated and ate four carb laden pieces.
Man, I ain't never had gas so bad in my life.
And it really hurt all night.
I feel sick and only slept about 3 hours, maybe.
Low fat?
Vegetarian?
What?
Between this and not having my printer networked I am a miserable wretch.

I decided to drop 10 pounds and keep it off. I switched to diet cokes, quit eating chips, and started eating breakfast. I think the breakfast made the biggest difference. First thing I noticed was that I wasn't so sleepy after lunch.

When I want to drop a few pounds, I completely remove any and all fast food from my diet. And if I'm really serious about it, I'll cut the weekend trips to Drunkytown for a few weeks.

That and a little exercise (30+ minutes a day "cardio" walking) has always worked wonders for me.

Oh, and lots of Copenhagen.

I usually do the atkins diet. I have about 15 pounds i need to drop before summer so I can be lean and mean for summer. 3 months should be enough time.

The dieticians that I have heard all say that you need to set a target for daily caloric intake. The calories need to be divided into protein, carbs and fat in a certain ratio (specific to your body and metabolism) and then spread the meals out to five or six times during the day, at roughly equal installments. You should eat at like 7, 10, 12:30, 3:30, 6:30 and 9 (or something close to that).

And mix in a workout along with the eating plan, taking into consideration the calories that you are going to lose in calculating the meal plan.

One thing they all say is that those atkin and south beach diets mess up your body. Cutting carbs drastically is not good for your body. Not to mention the gas.

All things being equal: eat less, exercise more.

you would think that more people would understand this idea, instead of ordering buckets of beef and chicken. And not exercising

It really is about lowerig the cals.
I've now lost 70 pounds. As I said in the other thread the premise really is lower your calories without losing the nutritional intake you need. Then cleansing is added in. I started working out a couple of weeks ago as well.
I've done low carb-atkins, south beach, etc. Lost weight but hard to stick with and food prep is a pain in the butt. Body for life(gained weight on it) you have to work your *** off in the workouts if you eat as much as they say, the food prep is a pain as well.
