I've been looking online all day for an Epson Stylus Photo RX500 printer driver and cannot find one.
You'd think Epson.com might be a good place to start but no - their links are broken.
And so is every other link that's not a scam in the entire world.
What is wrong with these people??
Give me something sharp or point me to a high bridge.
I can't take it no more!
Fuhk!

I will speak with our firewall guy and see what the deal is.
I download stuff all the time without problems.
Now this.
My life will never be complete without my lost printer driver.

OKAY,

The brainiac down the hall says our firewall blocks FTP files but he's somehow magically sending it to me anyway.

Thanks for the moral support.
I will live another day.

And now I have an even more burning problem,
(other than the nasty woman's disease eating my penis away).

I want to set up a network between my 2 home XP systems.
I have an ethernet hub and it's all hooked up...
I went to the Microsoft site and it's all in Greek and stuff.
Anyone know a place with pictures to walk me thru this so my wife will think I am a Nerd Bull Stud?

Epson?

that was your first problem ;)

Seriously though. I've been thinking about a dedicated photo-printer, and the research I've done shows Epson to be the leader.

Is there something about Epson I should be skeered of, or were you just poking PH with a stick?

It makes some really nice photos. Nice I tell you.

i just haven't liked Epson printers in the past with the way they goof up your port drivers and stuff, that might be different now, i don't know (this was in the printer port days)

as far as print quality, etc... i have no idea, i generally try to stick to HP Laserjets, and i usually don't care about printing in color

and maybe i was poking a little with a stick

Cool, I've got an HP laserjet for documents. This would be purely for photographs.

Re-commence poking.

i'd going to make an assumption here that you are also on the internet at home?

i've had issues with a similar setup with a cable modem, since both machines had IP's from the cable modem, all traffic went through the modem and was subject to the same upload restrictions... (at least this is what it seemed like to me, it was damn slow) having a router or sharing the internet connection from one computer to the other would make that a lot faster, if you are going to share, i think you need another NIC in one computer

i'm going to look for the other thread

Thank you...

I have 2 dial ups going into 1 splitter and then the hub running out of the ethernet ports.

I somehow thought this was going to be easy...?

yermom
2/20/2006, 04:27 PM
really, they are on dialup?

then ignore all of what i said before ;)

you should be able to choose two IP addresses that are non-routable and configure them manually on the TCP/IP properties for the NIC cards

something like 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2

then you should make sure that you can ping the addresses from the other machines, like from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.2 and vice versa

Start -> Run -> type "cmd"

then at the prompt, type "ping 192.168.0.2" if you are on 192.168.0.1, it should come back with replies like this:

Pinging 192.168.0.2 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.168.0.2: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=254
Reply from 192.168.0.2: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=254
Reply from 192.168.0.2: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=254
Reply from 192.168.0.2: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=254

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.2:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms

if you get "Request Timed Out" there is something broken

what OS are we talking about here? XP? Service Pack 2?

I'm on a dial-up at home because that's ALL we can get in Hillbillyville.
Satellite ain't worth it to me because of the latency.
Wife plays Guild Wars on said dial-up and it works fine.
I get all the internet I need at work. :)

OS = XP SP2.

Thanks again for the halp.
