yay or nay? I've only been there once and I don't remember what I thought.
Anyone have opinions about this place?

Norm is in Othello?
Everyday that guy impresses me.

I liked it the one time I went. That was 15 years ago though - probably not relevant now.

At that time PG was 5 and there was no innerweb.
Don't you feel better now?

it's OK. nothing special. kind of a red sauce and pasta place. but, i'm a townie and it's a Norman type place with some history (mostly before Patsy sold it). it used to be a cool place to hang out in the bar about 6 -7 years ago with couches and stuff....I thought.

the new one is excellent. I was never fan of the one on campus corner, but we've been to the new on 3 times in 3 weeks.

the one on campus corner is much more chill than most places on the corner.
if you're lookin to avoid the younger crowd and dig a little darker scene then Othello's is the place for you (especially if you dont like large obnoxious crowds.)
if you like rap or a lot of people, don't bother. the food's not bad either during the day...

I've been to the Campus Corner one three times. Every time I thought my food tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing though.

Othello's has the best - and worst - Italian food in Norman.
If you go, here's what you DO order:
Orange Roughie with angel hair pasta.
Shrimp and angel hair pasta.
Portabello mushroom appetizer.
Salad with house dressing (very good, spicy italian)
Any of their dishes with marinara are average - at best. Chicken/veal/eggplant parmagiana are about a C-.
Pizza is below average.
It is a good place to take a date for a quiet, romantic evening - but only if you order the fish.

Yeah, I think I have always ordered something with marinara. I'll try the roughy if I go again.

The pizza is really good at the one in Norman, too. So is the antipasto (basically a salad for 4 with meat and cheese on top)
I had the orange roughy last night, and it was very good, but I was a little let down.

Drinks, yay
Eats , not so much
good place to hang out at the bar or on one of the sofas in the back
Back in my days in Norman (mid-90's) I'd give the same advice as has been given here. Food is very average, but at least it's usually hot. Usually had a hottie bartender working and an occasional Switzer sighting. Mellow place to hang out and have a few drinks.
