NORMAN, Okla. -- One of the most intense rivalries in college football in the 1980s is being renewed, as the University of Miami and the University of Oklahoma have signed contracts to play in 2007 and 2009. The two schools made the announcement jointly on Thursday.

The Hurricanes will play at Oklahoma on September 8, 2007, and the Sooners will visit the Orange Bowl on September 12, 2009.

The games represent a continuance of the marquee match-ups represented on OU schedules of the recent past and near future. The Sooners face both Washington and Oregon in 2006 then go to Washington in 2008. In 2010, Florida State visits Norman before the Sooners return the game in Tallahassee the following year. Negotiations are ongoing for games in 2012 and 2013, but OU will host Tennessee in 2014 before returning to Knoxville in 2015.

Glad to see that the Canes are willing to take on a challenge. Now, when will the Domeheads come to Norman, like they were supposed to, after the 1999 game? Oh yeah, Sooners are no longer cupcakes, so fuggitaboutit.

'99 was a one game set (OU got $1 million for the trip) with a "gentlemen's agreement" for a future home/home.

**** the Co-Canes. I hope Coker is gone by then so that we can really treat them in an appropriately poor and unsportsmanlike manner. I'm talking about refusal of service for the team at restaurants and hotels, and refusal of police security, sort of like they pulled in the Orange Bowl against NEbraska where they said they couldn't protect Nebbish if they used the CoCanes locker room (as the home team and Big 8/12 champs).

A&M plays Miami in '07 in Miami and then Miami comes to Kyle Field in '08. Hopefully we can show these guys that the Big 12 is the best football conference in the nation, hopefully!

That's awesome guys! I would give anything to get them up in Lincoln for some friendly "payback".

Now what would be really sweet, is to have the Orange Bowl game played in Norman or Lincoln vs Miami. We've both faced the odds WAY too many times taking those thugs on in their own house over the years!

love to resume the sooner beatdown.

god how I'd wish we'd gotten the chance to ice that lame O in 2000. How much did the oil rich deep pocket good ole boys of Lawton, Norman and Tulsa pay off the BCS computer boy to face FSU instead of us.

Yeah but you guys exorcized some demons in 94 w/ Tommie and Schlesinger and won an in NC in their house. ;)

We still owe em. 33-0 vs. the world, 0-3 against the mafia.

I know the U cost Nebraska a lot too but they prevented a mid-80s Oklahoma 3-peat and thats the last we've seen of em.

If they hadn't sucked *** in 2000 and lost to Washington, Josh & co. would've settled it then. As is, because they lost to that mediocre Washington team, their fanbase has been able to sit back and bitch about OU "dodging" them in the BCS.

Oklahoma owes the Canes BIG.

Yes, 94 was as good as it gets for us against Miami. You are correct that OU wants it more than NU for the reasons you listed above. Trust me on this though, it will be all the more sweeter when it does happen.

All I want to see is some serious wood laid on Miami! Boomer Sooner!

Dude, you do remember they beat one of our, and the rest of NCAA's, best team ever? And 5 other times when we were ranked 11 or better.

I was about to say, I dislike them so much I wouldn't even mind if we duked it out with them under the stands at the Fock before and after the game. Provided we don't get anybody suspended or hurt.
