..but I just bought an off-brand LCD TV from a non-stereo/TV specialty store.

ViewSonic 20" LCD HDTV-ready for $300 I thought was a pretty reasonable price.

I've been remodeling a bit this week since I'm technically unemployed, and I wanted to save some room in my bedroom after replacing all the furniture. Picture on that sucker is pretty good as near as I can tell.

Just as long as you didn't go to the store and just look around, he won't mind.

Actually, I went to a high-end store and bothered a salesman for about an hour pumping him for info, then went to CompUSA and bought this TV off the shelf

(Not really-I was in CompUSA for something else and the price caught my eye-the TV was something I was thinking about, and the price was right.)

how many rebates? :D

$300 sounds like a great price for a 20" LCD TV...

What's up with that? Is there a thread I should read to know why that's a TV shopping faux paux?

I thought everything was like 3 times the price in Alaska. Does that mean I could buy it for a hundred bucks?

Yeah, I'm considering getting an extry-long cable for the lappy and using it for a monitor when I'm in the bedroom.
