View Full Version : Maybe some bad news, possible lineman transferring

A Sooner Lineman has asked for his release so he can transfer to Colorado State.

My guess is either Cooper or White since they are both from Colorado. If it's Cooper then we may be in some serious trouble at offensive line next year. Which we already were in losing 4 starters now we lose a 5th. If it's White we'll be okay. There were rumors a few months ago that Jon Cooper was homesick. It'll really suck if Cooper is gone.

Here's a link on the scout board. I've also got a call from someone saying the same thing.

http://mb22.scout.com/fouinsiderfrm1.showMessage?topicID=126074.topic

From that post it looks like Jesse White. But from the call I got I can't really tell. I hope it's White.

I thought Cooper was from Missouri. Pretty sure his dad lives in St. Louis.

Cooper seemed to be buying it to the Sooner tradition too. He really seemed to get it. I doubt it's him. His dad was all about OU's tradition too.

Why can't we freaking keep STARTERS? I mean...they START for OKLAHOMA. What else do they want? That's about as good as it freaking gets.

White has the back or neck issue, and CSU might be a less rigorous program w/o a Schmitty.

good point Jimminy.....

bet ya money it's White......

hat to see him go, but don't you think us going out and stealing Roark from FSU probably sent a little message Jesse's way about where he might stand inthe program????

I know. Only 22 (or so) people in a given year will start for Oklahoma.
It's not Middle Tennessee, it's freakin' OKLAHOMA. Not the John Blake
Oklahoma, the BOB STOOPS OLKAHOMA - it just doesn't get better than
that.

There is no way we can revive the Kasey Studdard thread. No way. But just in case...

http://www.billfoley.com/images/dubaicamelkid.jpg

10 year old Yawwan Asuk M'diq is rated by rivals as the #1 camel jock/wide receiver coming out of Dubai in 2014. He is already light years ahead of his peers, both in quickness and agility. Expect him to challenge for the 10-14 year old division Dubai Cup this year. Says Colorado State Coach Sonny Lubick, "This kid is good. I want him in our offense this year. But I'll settle for beating the Sooners for his services in 2014."

i was looking at the texas 100 for 2007 yesterday and noticed that there were several players that had either the same or similar names to players we landed this year. here's to hoping we land them for bob barry's sake...

That Studdard thread is probably the funniest I've ever seen.

I would bet it is Jesse White transferring. A real pity if so because he could have been powerbombing opponents in a couple years. I wouldn't be shocked given the injury problems though if White never sees the field for anyone.

Collier11
2/15/2006, 04:28 PM
well first of all, it is just speculation. Secondly, the poster says the kid who is transferring is the son of a wrestler. Then it has to be white, maybe he realized that with all the lineman coming in and his injuries it would be really hard for him to catch up

CtheB. I'm about 95% sure it's White. There's a chance he stays though for depth reasons I hope he does. We are thin enough as it is at the offensive line.

Don't let your Ardmore bias toward Ada reflect upon Chad. He has the potential or Stoops and Co. wouldn't have gone after him......I'm not real fond of Ada FB, but they have put out some good talent.;)

how would a kid who reportedly has been diagnosed with an arthritic hip transferring to a school closer to home hurt recruiting OL next year?

It's just more OL transferring, bad pub. A kid might not know the exact circumstances why White, if it's true it is him, left OU.

How many proven guys to we have at the offensive line?

MojoRisen
2/16/2006, 11:30 AM
It isn't good either way- both could come back strong- both have serious injuries. Jessie WHite - bench presses 500 Pounds - he has like a 35 inch verticle leap and squats 800 and ran a 47/48 40. He is a physical freak of nature and I am not sure what injury he had but I guess it was pretty serious or he would have started immediately.

I just want to see Big Duke knock some people on the ground for AD. If he and Quinn can learn to pass block, they will be our best linemen this season. Couple in either Cooper or White, Messner, Braxton, and the two JUCOs, and we ought to be looking pretty good.

So Jesse White is a proven offensive lineman? The dude hasn't played a down yet.

BTW, we have 3. JD Quinn, Jon Cooper, and Chris Messner have all played at a starter's level in quality gametime.

Jesus, some of you guys need to calm down. Wait until something actually happens before you get extremely worked up about it and start delving into the implications of it.

MojoRisen
2/18/2006, 09:39 AM
Jessie White isn't proven but if you look at the tale of the tape you would have to imagine that he could be proven- he is a sophmore this upcomming season for christ sake- Micheal Munoz was a soph at one time- So was Davin Joeseph.

Tell me how a country kid who loves football and can bench press 500 out of highschool weighs 300 pounds and runs a 4-7 40 can't be your pulling guard.

I hope he stays- sounds like he has a bo Jackson type injury though and could be null and void.
