Ive heard alot of this so I did some research, this is what I found when I looked up what I consider the major mens sports(baseball, track, football, basketball, and wrestling) in this decade

Baseball(record in championship game)
pac 10 0-3
sec 1-2 lsu
big 12 2-1 texazz won both
big east 1-0 miami(big east when they played)
acc 0-0
big 10 0-0

Football(BCS title game record)
pac 10 1-1 Usc
sec 1-0 LSU
big 12 2-3 OU and texazz
big east 1-1 Miami(big east when they played)
acc 0-1
big 10 1-0 Ohio State

Mens bball(championships then final four records)
pac 10 0 1-1
sec 0 1-1
big 12 0 1-5
big east 2 4-1 Syracuse and Uconn
acc 3 7-4 Duke, maryland, and North carolina
big 10 1 4-5 Mich st

Track and Field

Sec has all 5 this decade, I couldnt find 05 champs
lsu(2) Tenn, Ark(2)

Wrestling

Ok st 3
Iowa 1
Minnesota2

While we havent won a basketball title, we have put 5 teams in the final four
So when we do the math that is
pac 10 2-7 in title games and final fours and 2 titles overall
sec 3-5 in title games and final fours and 8 titles overall
big 12 5-9 in title games and final fours and 8 titles overall
acc 7-5 in title games and final fours and 3 titles overall
big 10 5-5 in title games and final fours and 4 titles overall
big east 6-2 in title games and final fours and 4 titles overall

Im pretty sure that those numbers put us as probably the most competitive or atleast in the top 2 of most competitive mens programs in the ncaa among major conferences in the major sports

i dont think there as over rated as some sec teams...say lsu in (donno what poll) the paper #7 OU what 9....im ready for some fooball........huh....but in 2000 it was ou and the 11 dorfs...i wish vince would have stayed with texas so we could beat there best team....but i hate longhorns but i thought vince was pretty unstoppable....donno if that work in the nfl.....and what he said when he got the crystal....all the way to austin baby.......he was great `````````````````````````````````````````````` i like LSU baseball though...thats it

good stuff...

I don't know that I would consider wrestling one of the "major" mens sports. If it was, I think mens soccer would have to be included as well and that changes the statistics a little bit, but the Big 12 would still be tied for first I believe. Either way, props to the Big 12

You also should consider the Big 12 is a baby in yrs of being a Conf compared to the SEC,Pathetic A$$ Conf 10, and the Big 10 etc.

true but this compilation was just in this decade and we are still the top or second conference in regards to playing for championships
