WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and injured a man during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas, his spokeswoman said Sunday.

Harry Whittington, 78, was “alert and doing fine” after Cheney sprayed Whittington with shotgun pellets on Saturday at the Armstrong Ranch in south Texas, said property owner Katharine Armstrong.

Armstrong said Cheney turned to shoot a bird and accidentally hit Whittington. She said Whittington was taken to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Cheney's spokeswoman, Lea Anne McBride, said the vice president was with Whittington, a lawyer from Austin, Texas, and his wife at the hospital on Sunday afternoon.

If Whittington had accidentally done the same to Cheney, would the Secret Service have peppered him with bullets?

Update #2: Later reports show that Mr Cheney rode in the ambulance with Mr Whittington. When they arrived at the hospital, attends found Mr. Whittington with an apple in his mouth and his body smeared with barbecue sauce. The vice president insisted the apple helped his friend deal with the pain, and the sauce was a good antiseptic. However, the vice president could not explain why he was wearing a large apron with the words “Kiss Me, I'm the Cook” printed on it.

actually, now that you mention it,

top secret documents recently obtianed from the computer of a high level haliburton executive confirm that George W. Bush is in fact a robot. Well, more accurately, a cyborg, created by Haliburton originally as a prototype automated oil-filed worker. However, during a freak electrical accident at their testing facility, the cyborg appeared to grow some sort of artificial intelligence, and began, somewhat anyways, thinking for himself, and taking the moniker George W. No, since I didn't vote for that lop either. Not liking Bush does not automatically mean liking Kerry. My biggest concern about Kerry was his integrity. Having seen some things he did behind the scenes as a Senator, I was certain he could not be trusted as Prez. I always figured W rated higher on the integrity scale, but this second term has brought a lot into question.
