You gotta love JH being #2. But you gotta hate that picture of that USC guy putting his hands on AD at #8...

I can think of a couple other Sooners that could be on that list. but probably because they are near and dear to us

I don't know, you've almost GOT to have D. Strait on that list. The guy is totally passed over and becomes a Jim Thorpe winner and All-American......

Mark Clayton and Q could be on there.

Teddy Lehman?

Clayton if he won the Bleitnekoff, Q....mmmm?,

Teddy, yeah, Butkus winner and All-American; rather obscure recruit; coaches didn't even believe his 40 time until he ran it in front of them;

I love how the pic of Gallery has him holding!

I'll always be partial to JH and Q and the runs Q made that years against the likes of KSU and FSU.

I believe Larry was a 3 * , hardly overlooked...

pretty decent

But there have been better players who were even less heralded as recruits such as Josh Heupel or Derrick Strait. Both of them owned at life. They could make turkey sandwiches out of ham, but I'm not sure Birdine can do that yet. Cody was probably a better steal than he was.

yeah i agree. However, I thought Q was THE biggest surprise

Right, because he ran a 3.9 40 in pads in front of them, right? Like Michael Johnson the linebacker. The bottom line is that the dude is fast as hell on the field, whether his 40 was accurate or not (which is probably impossible). And I agree. Ted was a major steal from little old Ft. Gibson.

Most definitely. Derrick was unbe-freaking-lievable from day 1. I remember watching that pass breakup against the pokes in 2000 (you know, the one that saved the game), thinking "Who the hell was that?" as he elevated about 9 feet in the air to swat it away. Three years later he was probably the best CB we ever had. We still miss him.

in highschool he ran the 40 in the upper 4.4 range
at the combine, he ran it in 4.56

and in highschool he ran the 100 in 10.56/7 at the state meet senior year

everyone forgetting TRRW

Wasn't TRRW a pretty high recruit?

Wasn't TRRW a pretty high recruit?

Yes, I think he was. He was a Blake recruit and didn't work very hard early in his career (that's shocking isn't it? Blake's players being lazy)

Stoops came in and kicked him in the *** and the rest is history.

I feel ya on that one. But I do have one question...How many years did that guy play for USC? It must have been over a decade because it said he played for 2 USC MNC's.

Yeah he probably should be up there. Derrick Strait is one of the greatest cornerbacks in college football history.
