My Dad had to get his dog put to sleep so I told him I'd get another one. He wants a Bulldog. He has no idea how much they are or he wouldn't have asked for one. Anyone know where I can get an English Bulldog pup?

She's not purebred, but she sure is cute. I'd actually help drive her to OK if you adopted her.

I have a friend who bought her bulldog pup from a breeder just outside Prague (Oklahoma). I don't know the breeder's name but could find out if you want me to.

Edit: oops, just noticed that she's been adopted. Never mind.

I was on the road to buying a bulldog a couple of years ago, but after researching and saw how much medical problems they can have, it can be a very expensive dog to have.

They are very cool looking though.

Did you ever get that English bulldog?
I had to take mine to a 24 hour vet the other night; I thought he was overheated but it turns out he was having some stomach acid problems.

And yeah they are pricey, but Winston is priceless.

I recommend NOT going the online route, unless you know of someone who has success with a certain site. good luck with the dog hunt. My future husband sure wants a dog

I got mine from a breeder in Locust Grove. I was a bit leery of finding a quality English Bulldog breeder in Locust Grove, but I went out there and checked them out. Their dogs were excellent. All purebred and registered. Unfortunately, from what I understand they got a divorce and no longer breed with each other or the dogs.

A lot of mutts need to be put down.

#1: Unpredictable look
#2: Unpredictable size
#3: Unpredictable temperament (that's the killer!)

I would never get a mutt. Never. Never. Never.

But, if you want a dog that might look like a freak and act like Hitler, then by all means, roll the dice.

But all dogs want is your love :)

To your credit, look at Conan O'Brien. He adopted an old sock puppet made out of crap, and look at the dog now:

and the temper on that thing... and the foul mouth

I enjoy dressing Winston depending on the holiday. I'm looking for a Baylor shirt for him, and if I can't find one then I'm going to have one made.

My sister is setting up a myspace for him.

Your sexuality is now completely in question, if it wasn't already. :D

Dressing your dog? C'mon man.

I only do it becuase he wants to be clothed. I've honest to god got the smartest but most obssessive compulsive dog you've ever seen. He likes having a shirt on, and whenever I have to wash his clothes he'll get his shirt out of the laundry basket and try to put it on himself. No joke.

This is a dog who makes his bed before he goes to sleep everynight. He uses his teeth to fix his covers just the way he wants them, and if someone messes it up then he'll go and fix everything again. He keeps all of his toys organized in this little bucket and cleans up after himself putting his toys away and only taking out what he wants to play with.

He's EXTREMELY modest which is what I think accounts for the shirt thing. He won't go #2 in front of me or anyone else. If we're looking he gives us dirty looks until we turn away or he goes behind a bush or something.

This dog is smarter than 70% of the adult population.

So the dog is gay?

I think he's asexual. He's never shown the least bit interest in that kind of thing. The only thing he's interested in is sleeping and eating. He sleeps and eats and that's about it. Least active dog I've ever seen.

The English really don't care much for the Irish...

I'm just sayin'...

Maybe he doesn't care to party on St. Paddys Day.

But, if you want a dog that might look like a freak and act like Hitler, then by all means, roll the dice.

I guess you haven't seen many dogs at a shelter. Most are adult or at least close enough to adulthood that they're 90% or more their full size. There go your #1 & #2. Also, you'd be surprised how many of the dogs there are very close to being an identifiable breed. If one wants a black lab because they like their temperment, then I'm sure they'll find a dog that's 75% or more lab at the shelter and they'll be just fine.

Also, dogs at shelters are examined and tested for temperment before they can be put on the adoption floor. If they fail any of the poking or prodding by trying to bite the handler, they won't be adopted. They'll spend time training the dog at the shelter and/or give them to trained foster owners for a time to try to get them 'adoptable'. If all that fails, then the dogs may be put down rather than sold to an unsuspecting owner.

Many shelters have generous return policies as well. If someone realizes the border collie mix they got was too much, they can trade him in on something more docile.

I have a Chow/Collie mix (10yrs) that is a very well behaved dog. Has been a great kids dog.
The bred or breds of a dog is only part of the picture. The owners play a huge part in how the dog will turn out.

I have a Welsh Pembroke Corgi

Good dog, but she can destroy a carpet and two vacuum cleaners up in no time.

I have an English Bulldog. He is the BEST dog ever. Hasn't been to the vet that often. I will always have an English Bulldog because of their personality and temperment. They are not cheap.

The end.
