OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 4 (Ticker) -- Both rookie Chris Paul (http://www.nba.com/playerfile/chris_paul/index.html) and Kobe Bryant (http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kobe_bryant/index.html) played well for their respective teams. The difference was that Paul had help.

Paul narrowly missed a triple-double as he collected 19 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds as the New Orleans Hornets rolled to a 106-90 triumph over the reeling Los Angeles Lakers

NBA TV highlights from
Lakers-Hornets: Play (javascript:nbaVideo(escape('http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.php?content=video&url=http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia/nba/nbacom/recaps/recap_689_lalnok.asx'),escape('blank'));) Bryant scored 35 points on 13-of-26 shooting as he was forced to play an even more prominent role in the Lakers' offense with both Lamar Odom (http://www.nba.com/playerfile/lamar_odom/index.html) and Chris Mihm (http://www.nba.com/playerfile/chris_mihm/index.html) sidelined with injuries.

The NBA's leading scorer, Bryant had 19 points in the opening period but was unable to give Los Angeles the lead at any point. The Lakers have not held a lead since second quarter of Wednesday's loss at Indiana - spanning 10 periods.

The absence of the 6-10 Odom and the 7-foot Mihm was also a detriment on the defensive end as the Hornets held a 50-18 advantage in the paint.

The Hornets continually attacked the basket and were able to shoot 57 percent (42-of-74) thanks to a plethora of layups and dunks against their shorthanded opponents.

Desmond Mason (http://www.nba.com/playerfile/desmond_mason/index.html) scored 21 points for the Hornets, who had all five starters score in double figures en route to their fourth straight victory - matching their longest winning streak of the season.

So... why would the Hornets even think about going back to NO after this year?

you mean we beat Kobe Bryant

that whole is set up to placate Kobe's ego. I can't believe Phil Jackson agreed to coach this team.

Kobe without Shaq = scoring title and no team

I'd love to see them, too.

Of course with the way the Mavericks are playing, there's a high possibility that both teams could square off in the first round.

And I don't particularly like it when two of my favorite teams meet each other in the playoffs.

That having been said...

GO MAVERICKS!!! :D

did you see where Cuban is lowering ticket prices for next season? the team catches a break on the luxury tax, and instead of putting the $$ in his pocket, he's keeping his promise to the fans.......there will be packages next season where upper deck seats are 2 bucks

there simply isnt a better owner in sports imo

and yes, Go Mavs!!!!!! they are alot of fun to watch this year.....
