Picked up my new Chesapeake Bay Retriever at the airport yesterday. He was flown in from New Hampshire. We still don't have a name for him but we have a few ideas. There are only 4 living dual champion chessies(titled with both a field championship and a show championship) and his sire is one and both grandsires are two more. The fourth is an uncle. Hopefully this boy will get his daddy's look and field talent.

If it has to be flown in from the northeast, you shouldn't ask.

For something a bit different, pick the name of a building on campus that you particularly liked or spent a lot of time in or where you wished you had been able to spent a lot of time. The FOCK doesn't qualify here, same with Gaylord.
Another idea would be the name of a Norman establishment that you enjoyed - Mont, Legends, O'Connells, etc.

You're better than that Baja.;)

Here's an idea. The last American commercial fishing vessels under sail were a class of boats called "skipjacks." They were used for centuries on the Chesapeake by its oystermen. The class, to my mind, had very pleasing lines and scream Chesapeake Bay.

So why not name him "Skipjack?" Easy to say, and the short "a" vowel sound in the second syllable will make it easy for him to learn his name and come when called.

A skipjack under way on the Chesapeake.

So Achiro, are you going to get him trained proffesionally? I had an English Setter that I raised from a pup and started training him to hunt at about 6 months old. I paid to have him trained and it was money well spent. He hunted well and was very obedient. If you are training him yourself I have a book on Lab/Retriever training called 'Water Dogs' it's a really good book and helps the owner get the little pups started the right way. Nothing like pups first day out in the field. PM me if your'e interested in the book......:)

Thanks IB, I've basically got a library of training books, video's and dvd's. I run field trials with my dogs so the training part is old hat. I will probably do most of his training myself but if work interferes in critical times or whatever I will send him to a pro for short periods as well.
