so's I'm nearly asleep napping yesterday at 2:30 when my gf calls and says I need to run to her mother's house 20 minutes away from here to fight a fire near their house. I figure ok, her stepdad needs some help, then she tells me they're in Kentucky!
They'd been putting off the trip due to the high fire danger and wouldn't you know it, they left yesterday morning. They have a large spread in Pawnee county right off of highway 99.
Anywho I get there and there's firetrucks, bulldozers, local and federal firefighters and spotter planes from the forrestry service (sweet ones at that).
I start watering near the house and get some help from said stepdad's brother and buddy who rolled in from Tulsa.
it was under control but at one time was in doubt. they even brought in 2 huge planes that looked like revamped B-25's to dump some retardent on the blaze.
