SOONERS SLAPSHOT

WHAT: Oklahoma Sooners® vs. Lindenwood Lions
WHEN: Saturday, February 4, 2006, 7:00 P.M. Central
WHERE: CenturyTel Ice Arena, Wentzville, MO

2005-06 RECORDS:
Oklahoma: 15-10-2 ACHA Division I
Lindenwood: 21-10-1 ACHA Division I

COACHES: Oklahoma – Larry Donovan; Lindenwood – Derek Schaub

SETTING THE STAGE: OU faces Lindenwood in the second of a two game series this weekend in suburban St. Louis…Tonight’s game is also the last of four games between the two teams this season…Oklahoma shut out Lindenwood last night 3-0 before a crowd of about 200, approximately half of whom were raucous Sooners fans that made the trip up I-44 to support the Sooners.

OKLAHOMA NOTES: Sooners goaltender Aaron Schmeilski was outstanding in net last night for OU, turning away several breakaway opportunities for Lindenwood early in the game to preserve the Sooners lead in the first period…Schmeilski stopped all 37 shots he faced last night…Sooners forward Owen Brewer scored twice and OU forward Laddy Tresl scored as well to give the Sooners a 3-0 win over the highly-ranked Lions…Defenseman Mark Tylka left more than a great defensive effort on the ice last night as he suffered a slightly chipped tooth in yesterday’s contest…Tresl has scored the game-winning goals in each of the two OU road wins against the Lions in the past two seasons, getting last night’s GWG as well as a goal in overtime to secure a 2-1 Sooners victory last season…With last night’s shutout, Oklahoma joins Penn State, Illinois and Ohio as the only teams to have shutout Lindenwood this season.

LINDENWOOD NOTES: Lindenwood goaltender Grahame Lippert stopped 18 of the 21 OU shots he faced last night…Lions forward Quinn Henry attended training camp with the CHL Oklahoma City Blazers before the 2003-2004 season where he was briefly a teammate of former Blazers player and current Sooners assistant coach Peter Arvanitis; Henry was ultimately cut before the start of the CHL season and began his Lindenwood playing career thereafter…Lindenwood was 0 for 9 on the power play last night…Lindenwood University owns and operates the CenturyTel Ice Arena where the Lions play all of their home games.

NEXT UP FOR THE SOONERS: The Sooners return home to take on the University of Arizona in a pair of games next weekend …For more information, please call the OU Hockey Office at (405) 631-2709.
