OKLAHOMA 3, LINDENWOOD 0

The No. 15-ranked University of Oklahoma« Hockey club came into suburban St. Louis tonight and shut out the No. 6-ranked Lindenwood University by a score of 3-0. In the first period, the Sooners withstood an early onslaught by the Lindenwood offense and turned the momentum to their favor when Laddy Tresl scored at 12:22 to give OU a 1-0 lead. Sooners forward Owen Brewer slammed home a rebound of a Shawn Webber shot at 18:07 to give the Sooners a 2-0 lead at the end of one period of play. The second period saw no scoring by either team but the action was no less intense as both teams had good scoring opportunities in the second stanza. In the third period, Lindenwood tried to get their offense going but the Sooners took it to the Lions for the last twenty minutes of action and Sooners goaltender Aaron Schmeilski slammed the door shut on the OU goal. Brewer scored his second goal of the evening on a shorthanded breakaway when he took a head man pass from Adrian Borchgrevink and pushed the puck past the Lindenwood goalie to give OU a comfortable 3-0 lead at the 12:31 mark of the period. When the final buzzer sounded, Schmeilski had stopped all 37 Lindenwood shots he faced tonight to lead OU to the 3-0 win. Lindenwood goalie Grahame Lippert stopped just 18 of the 21 OU shots he saw tonight. Neither team scored on the power play tonight as OU was 0 for 5 while Lindenwood was 0 for 9 with the man advantage.

The Sooners are now 15-10-2 on the season while Lindenwood drops to 21-10-1. The Sooners stay in Missouri for another game against Lindenwood tomorrow before heading home to Norman on Super Bowl Sunday.
