My only hope was with Shadegg. Boehner is definitely better than Blunt, but nowhere near as good as Shadegg. Shadegg didn't make it to the 2nd ballot, so I assume he made a deal to give his votes to Boehner, but I think he's denying any sort of election deal. Still, if I had to guess it was Shadegg's support that put Boehner over the top.

For those of you who don't know, Blunt was Majority Whip acting as Majority Leader since DeLay resigned his post. He was a member of the DeLay camp, and obviously not the best vehicle for reform.

And for those of you interested in immigration issues; Tom Tancredo endorsed (and I assume voted although obviously the ballots are secret)Boehner prior to Shadegg's late entrance into the race. I'd like for Tancredo to have changed his support to Shadegg, but anyway it's over now and we've got Boehner.
