Ardmore, the town where mama brung me into the world, is named for Ardmore PA 'cause some railroad tycoon who put in the tracks through town was from Ardmore PA. Just saying.

or Choctaw? Chickasaw? All three tribes have bands that hail originally from Alabama and Mississippi

Ever check out Enterprise AL? It has America's only monument to an agricultural pest. They put up a big monument to the boll weevil in the town square after a particularly devastating infestation helped them decide to quit farming cotton and try other pursuits which proved more profitable over the long run.

bass fishing/alabammer.

reminds me of a story.

this is an absolutely unadulterated, bullsh!t-free, first-hand account.....

first of all, i don't have a breathing relative that wasn't born and raised in the ****ing sticks of alabama. one of which is a cousin i'll call Gary Paul - which is what everyone else calls him too....

i was in alabama for a funeral, and was sitting at my grandparent's table eating breakfast when i saw Gary Paul pull up with his bass boat in tow. being a city folk, but still wanting to be polite, i said:

c_p: good morning Gary Paul. did you catch anything?

Gary Paul: naw, but i wasn't fishin' that hard.....

i didn't really know how to respond to that..

CP, My Hillbilly interpretation is, Gary Paul pretty much drove the boat around the lake lookin' at the southern belles laying out on the beach.......

looking back on that post, i should have stressed the fact that he was bass fishing 2 hours before the funeral of a prominent family member.....

thank you jesus for delivering me from that mess.....

been to toadsuck (and got the shirt)

Toadsuck is better for camping. Slapout's better for wheat farming.

There's a Bird In Hand in Pennsylvania.........

And don't forget Intercourse, PA...right in the heart of Amish Paradise. I used to have a t-shirt that said "Virginia is for Lovers, but Pennsylvania has Intercourse." :D

Surprised nobody has mentioned Bugtussle?? Be very surprised if any other state has a town with *that* name.

I've been to Slapout, OK a million times. I actually worked there for a few months. Drank many brewskis at the little bar there.
