You know, Since he was a real figure and was on the edge, most could dare less. I think the Hollywood rewriting history or rewriting traditional aspects/thoughts of history was more provocative...Never mind what may have gone on, what may have happened, etc. People have a comfort factor around cowboys and Hollywood messed with it...

Its because its hardly a shock when a director or actor is gay or bi.
