View Full Version : Mmmm, Lortab is a hell of a drug...

I severely sprained my ankle the other day, a grade 2 sprain with possible tendon involvement (to be determined later). Anyway, the pain was so intense, I couldn't stand on it to take a shower. Went to the MD and he prescribed Lortab. That is one hell of a drug. After taking, no more pain, no more foot, life is good. Much better than the last evening when the foot throbbed all night and I got no sleep.

BTW, stay away from expansion joints in parking lots. They bite hard...

Mrs THA and I were shocked at the amount. I did have to show driver's license and they wrote that down, so I guees there will be no doctor shopping or multiple refills, etc. Also, I don't want any trouble, so none of you PM me and ask me to sell or send you any "free samples"...;)

Howzit, I just don't know how to react to your avatar. It is either really gross or really funny. I just haven't figured it out yet!

In my very limited experience I've found that they (DOs) like to hand out pain meds, the good pain meds, more than MDs do.

There appears to be a story here...

had 2 wisdom teeth removed... took 2 Lortab...hours later i take 2 more and go see a movie (Jackie Brown)

i was feeling all kinds of good at this point

after the movie we went to Denny's, about 1/2 way through my meal, my first food of the day, i woke up on the floor

i'm thinking "how did i get in my bed?"

i guess i was out for like 30 seconds... once i was awake they cancelled the ambulance that was on its way... oh and my mom laughed when they called her

after things settled down a bit, some drunk mexican guy starts ****ing with us, saying he's the police, and asking us why we are starting trouble... after i convince my friends to stop talking to him about where his gun and badge are, we leave

no more Lortab for me

i ate Ibuprofen like candy the next couple weeks after getting dry sockets

I know I've been taking them (5 mgs) once a day for the last 3 years, chronic pain is not alot of fun........:( 7.5 is as high as I will go for one dose unless I just had surgery. I'm surprised he prescribed 10's for a severe ankle sprain.

a lot of the ER's around town are run by a DO group. (including norman)

ER doc's give Lortab just to thank you for coming by. You don't really need an injury. ;)

good call. You're not supposed to take Lortabs on an empty stomach.

No wonder!!!

Lortab® is the brand name for the combination of acetaminophen (Tylenol) and hydrocodone. Lortab® is prescribed for moderate to moderately severe pain. Hydrocodone binds to the pain receptors in the brain so that the sensation of pain is reduced. Acetaminophen halts the production of prostaglandins which otherwise cause pain. It is available in tablet, capsule, and liquid form and is taken every 4-6 hours by mouth. Since hydrocodone can be habit forming, care must be taken to follow the doctor's instructions when taking Lortab®. Do not take a larger dose, or take it more frequently, or take it for longer than the doctor has prescribed.

I hate Lortab. Upsets my stomach.

The last time I took hydrocodone I was out for two days. That was a hell of a lot better then dealing with wisdom teeth pain.

Oh, and for the dry sockets, they just crammed medicated gauze in there. Fixed me right up!
