DALLAS — Oklahoma freshman Courtney Paris won her seventh Big 12 weekly award of the season when she was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week by the conference offices on Monday afternoon. It is the second Player of the Week award for rookie phenom in addtion to five Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week awards. Paris combined total of seven weekly honors is a Big 12 single season record, while her accumulation of five rookie awards has tied a conference record.

Paris’ recording-setting performances last week helped Oklahoma remain undefeated in Big 12 play. In OU’s two wins she averaged 25 points, 15 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.5 assists. The Piedmont, Calif., native tied an OU freshman scoring record with 32 points against Texas. She also grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked three shots while becoming the fastest player in program history to score 400 points, which she needed just 20 games to reach.

At Texas A&M, the freshman center recorded her NCAA leading 18th double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Paris has collected a double-double in 13 consecutive games, the longest current streak in the NCAA this season. Both the double-double total and streak are OU records for the Sooner rookie. Finally, Paris set another record by reaching 300 career rebounds in 21 games, which is the fastest pace in program history.

Marlies Gipson (Kansas State) was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week.

She's the Wayman Tisdale of the women's team. She should be first team All-America.
