AUSTIN, Texas -- Longhorns coach Mack Brown is getting a raise that would put him among the highest paid coaches in college football, school officials said.

Brown, who won the national championship with a 41-38 Rose Bowl victory over Southern California earlier this month, will receive an annual salary of at least $2.5 million, Texas men's Athletic Director DeLoss Dodds said.

Brown, 54, earned $2.159 million last season and is due for another $100,000 as part of a 10-year agreement that was announced at the end of the 2005 season.

"We've always wanted to keep him in the top five in the country, where he belongs," Dodds said.

USC coach Pete Carroll is believed to receive $3 million annually, while Notre Dame's Charlie Weis is paid as much as $4 million. Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, meanwhile, earned $2.4 million this past season.

If you start a thread without using the search button first you should be fined, and that money should go to Stoops salary.

I mean, it's not like the other thread is on page 8 or something. It's right there on page 1. :(

He should give a % to VY. W/O him, he'd be the same old ****tay *** coach that he was a few years ago.

I would have waited one more season before I gave such a large raise. Mark it down Texas will lose 3 games along with USC!!! Not much of a bold prediction but I'll throw it out there.

They give a raise to Brown when he will never win a conference title or MNC again. Maybe not beat OU again.

His 'coaching' actually hurt VY. When Brown decided to stop 'coaching' and let Vince be Vince they finally win one.

Oh the ironies.

The Sooners never believe their going to lose - that's part of the reason we win so many.

Just got through handing Miami their worst bowl defeat ever and putting their program in a serious funk.
Get used to five more years in a row of Red River losses.

Of course the Pope's coach gets more money than anybody else. The Vatican Bank and Immobilliary are still backed by the Corleon family.
