Didn't know Afganistan was a quagmire...

NATO treads cautiously into Afghan quagmire

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - NATO chief Jaap de Hoop Scheffer will tell an international meeting on Afghanistan next week that the military alliance is willing to do more to help Afghans find an elusive peace.

But while European NATO nations back that goal, they are equally determined not to see the alliance roped into U.S. counter-terrorism activities whose tactics they often reject, nor offer Washington a premature exit from the war it began.http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060127/wl_nm/afghan_nato_dc

Obviously our fascist neocon policy of war mongering against the innocent peoples of Afghanistan and the rest of mother earth has led to this hellish quagmire, which now requires NATO to come play the role of "cleaning lady".

I hope they don't wear the French maids uniforms. I don't think the Taliban would like that.

Really. Afghanistan is now so peaceful, serene, and stable. And it's such a delight this time of year, I think I'll take my kids there on vacation.

They have a lot of work to do there no doubt, but hardly the quagmire or failure that some would like it to be, sadly.

Progress fuels these views: Despite the country's continued problems, 85 percent of Afghans say living conditions there are better now than they were under the Taliban. Eighty percent cite improved freedom to express political views. And 75 percent say their security from crime and violence has improved as well. After decades of oppression and war, many Afghans see a better life.http://abcnews.go.com/International/PollVault/story?id=1363276

I really do get your point, but I just had to take a jab at you for getting your skivvies in such a wad over a headline. :D

No wading of the skivvies here, just showing the truth as always.

Yeah the media is barking up the wrong tree if they want to be negative about Afghanistan, we have pretty much crushed a regime that killed women for the crime of being women. The Taliban were beyond cruel and even their own people despised them. Iraq is arguable about being a bad decision. Even Saddam didn't treat his people with the general evilness that the Taliban did.

That article was from Reuters, the same organization that refuses to use the word terrorists because they don't want to label people.
