No question, Safety Dance's video was great...for people into Scarborough Faire. But, I'm talking from a techincal standpoint. In fact, I think the most memorable videos of the era were

(1) a-ha, Take On Me
(2) Dire Straits, Money For Nothing
(3) Peter Gabriel, Sledgehammer

I forget, was epic one hit wonder The Knack's "My Sharona" late 70's, or early 80's? That song RMFO.

"My Sharona" was Spring '79, I am pretty sure. I was working in a Men's Dept. in Gayfer's (a southern dept. store chain) the first time I heard it, and that was right before I went to Southern Miss. Man...I am old.

No - that was the name of the place. A few years ago they either went out of business or were bought out by Dillards' - I didn't keep up.

In the 70's and 80's they were all over the South in shopping malls and what not.

The "You Might Think" video from the Cars was pretty legendary, too.
