SETTING THE STAGE: OU and Arizona State face off tonight in the first of two games in Oklahoma City this weekend…Oklahoma traveled to Tempe earlier this season for a two-game set against the Sun Devils…In the first game in Tempe, ASU served the Sooners its first ever shutout in program history, blanking OU 3-0…In the second game, the Sun Devils scored on their first two shots of the game before OU rallied, ultimately falling to the Sun Devils by a score of 5-4…This is the first time Arizona State has traveled to Oklahoma City to play OU in hockey.

OKLAHOMA NOTES: The Sooners are currently ranked 15th in the nation in the latest ACHA D1 Coaches ranking…In the unofficial computer poll of ACHA D1 teams, OU remains ranked 13th in the nation…OU has won 7 of their last 8 games…The Sooners played two weeks ago, beating Navy in Oklahoma City by scores of 6-3 and 5-3…Sophomore forward Matt Pangrac continues to lead the Sooners in goals scored with 14 and in total points scored with 23…Junior forward Justin Hall leads the Sooners in assists with 15…Defenseman Bryan Jewell leads the team in penalty minutes with 81…Junior goaltender Aaron Schmeilski has a record of 10-7-2, a 2.86 GAA and a .909 save percentage through 19 games this season.

ARIZONA STATE NOTES: The Sun Devils are currently ranked 9th in the ACHA D1 Coaches poll…ASU is 6th in the unofficial computer poll of ACHA D1 teams… Arizona State’s last games were two weekends ago when ASU hosted Towson University in Tempe, beating Towson by the identical score of 9-1 in each of the two games between the teams…The Sun Devils scoring attack is led by forward Joe Ahern who has 13 goals and 10 assists in 23 games…Ahern is followed by Ray Corey (16-6-22), Ryan Esner (9-8-17) and Rick Ferroni (6-10-16)…In net, the Sun Devils have split the goaltending duties between Kyle Bronsteen (9 games played, 2.78 goals against average, .903 save percentage), Herb Hollins (6.5 GP, 2.74 GAA, .888 SV) and Colin Cook (7.5 GP, 2.90 GAA, .909 SV) this season…Sun Devils coach Mike De Angelis was a three-time member of the Italian Olympic Ice Hockey Team.
