Thought this would be a good complement to the game thread.

The one that comes to mind for me, probably because he was running right at our part of the stands was Julius Peppers. Great talent.

Kordell Stewart and Rashaan Salaam were good CFB players and Westbrook from that Buff team.....

please go on.....:)

The greatest TEAM opponent I have seen was 1971 Nebraska. (But I'd hate to think Jonny Rodgers was the best individual opponent.)

I had to pitch against OU once in college. Can I say me?:D :D :D Only time in my life that I didn't root for OU. I lost, 6-4 (I think)

Seriously, best team I've seen was Neb when they clubbed us like a baby seal 77-21. Best individual player was either Julius Peppers or Kordell Stewart although I was really impressed with Omar Jacobs last year.

Thurman Thomas. He wore a rut down the sidelines of owen field one day. In victory. Uggh.

Thurman Thomas never beat us. Maybe you're thinking of Terry Miller in '76?

I saw the following in person that are memorable:

Marcus Allen ran for 180+ yds against us at USC in I think 1981 in a winning effort.

Nolan Cromwell crushed us in Norman in 1975

Elway obliterated us in Norman on a wet field

Barry Sanders

Thurman Thomas

Terry Miller caused me mass embarassment in 1976 at Norman

Michael Irvin and the future NFL'ers from Miami are memorable

Hostettler (sp?) had a big day in Norman before his NFL career

Lynn Dickey cooked our goose in Norman in I believe 1969

Earl

Miami in Norman, 1985.

Vinnie Testaverde, 1985.

I would say that Red River Rivalry game with Ricky Williams versus De'mond Parker. Both those guys were hard core.

USC and I don't even like to think about it.

Barry Sanders. We had a rock-solid defense that year, one of the best ever, especially against the run, and he tore us apart.

The best I've ever seen an OU player against the opposition in a loss was Boz vs. Miami in the '87 OB. If the entire team had played like that we'd have won big.

Elway, Hostetler are the first to come to mind and then there is the miami team of 85 with Vinny, Irvin, the Blades, Jerome Brown. Thurman and Leslie O'Neal from osu.

Matt Leinart and the rest of the USC Trojans. That night in Miami was just a nightmare.I guess I could also say Miami in 1985 since I was in Owen Field but I don't remember since I was just a little guy back then.

Miami 1986. Vinny, Irving, J. Brown, and the Blades and many others. Regular season game in the Orange Bowl.

The most dangerous thing was the ride on the metro rail from south Miami to downtown. First stop was in Coral Gables. Yes I was wearing my OU gear. About a million (no lie) Hurricanes fans got on board and gave me a hell of a time. Worst fans than even Colorado's.

The 1982 (9/11) West Virginia game (41-27) was my first game as a student at OU, yeah it sucked. The game that Hostetler played was the most impressive single performance that I saw in person.

As a team, maybe some of the Turner Gill Nebraska teams like in 1981 or 1983.

It's amazing to think OU has faced so many NFL greats and HOF's and college FB immortals......I never saw him, but Paul Hornung might have been a great player to watch.....Darrell Royal from OU....

Did OU ever face Red Grange, Doak Walker, or Davey O'Brein???

I've been to almost 100 OU games over the last 12 years including just about all of the "Big Games".

USC 04'. No Question.

The first one that pops to my mind is Earl Campbell. I saw him in '76 & '77.

So. Cal. came to Norman in '71 or '72. Was Lynn Swann on that team?

Penn State in the Sugar Bowl, New Year's Eve, 1972. I think Franco Harris and Jack Ham or Jack Lambert were on that team.

Don't recall if Swann was on the '71 team that came to Norman. He was on the '73 team that we played to a 7-7 tie in LA.
