hey y'all...
just thought I'd share the latest news on my better half's mother. For those that don't know or don't remember, she was diagnosed with cancer (lung cancer it turned out, not lymphoma as was initially suspected) in November.

We heard this news over the weekend, but today she sent out an email to everyone thats been in contact with her for the last few months, and I thought I'd post it.

Dear Friends and Family,

I think I mentioned in my last update that the last time I saw my
oncologist, Dr. Keefer, I told him that my cancer was gone. He said, "great,
when do you want to have a CAT scan?" We scheduled it and I had the scan
yesterday.

Today, Dr. Keefer told me that the radiologist could see no signs of the
cancer on my scan. This, after only two treatments, about a million prayers
and faith ... lots and lots of faith! God is great! Thanks again for all
of your wonderful prayers!

Of course, I'll complete my chemo and add a little radiation for good
measure, but I am so grateful for this medical proof of my cure (for all
those people like my husband and best friend who really do appreciate
scientific confirmation).

The only problem I am having is really no problem at all and it was in great
part caused by my stubborn determination not to have a plumbing problem over
the holidays! When my hair started coming out two days before Christmas, I
shaved my head and for those who may know someone in a similar
situation...that was a BAD idea. It has caused me no small measure of
discomfort...itches like the dickens and now I have some sort of
dermatological problem. Truly no big deal, but sure does make wearing my
wig a pain. And, my wig is a sassy thing that looks better than my real
hair! Good thing that I love hats, huh!

My current prayer is for God to sustain me through this treatment and to
leave me with absolutely no future ramifications. I plan to use this
experience as the vehicle that will propel me to be a much healthier person
in the future and to help others where I can along the way.

Okay, so please pardon my rambling a bit, but I'm just so thankful that it's
hard to contain how very blessed I feel.

Thank you again for your wonderful prayers, for your concern, and for your
faith!

Love,
Katie

many thanks to all of you here that offered your prayers and support. We have no doubt that the enourmous ammount of support she recieved, both upfront, and anonymously, played a big part in helping her through this challenging time.
