I just now got done reading this and i cant say how ****ed off i am to even read something like this from other sooner fans or shall i say alumni?. As stated by many others just like me. I'm 22 yrs old and was born in elreno and lived in yukon my entire life not that anybody cares but I've been attending games and have had season tickets in my family for over 30 years. I myself have been attending the games since i was 4 yrs old. I was sooner born and sooner bred and when i die ill be sooner dead. My dream was always to attend the University of Oklahoma but money was always a problem. I'm not poor but my parents aren't rich and can't afford to pay my way like some spoiled brats on here and im not naming names because i wasn't raised like that. That would mean i've been supporting OU athletics for 18 yrs now ever since i knew what football and basketball etc..... was and noone is gonna tell me he is a bigger and more diehard fan just because he was lucky enough to get a degree from there. My question to some of you alumni who feel the same as the person who started this thread, and are on the waiting list for season tickets where were you during the gibbs smelly and blake years????? Because i was there every game and there couldn't have been 60,000 people there on a good day. Without fans like me and others like me you wouldnt have sold out stadium every night. I completely agree with the word bandwagon fans as i do believe we have alot of those but every school has those so you take the good with the bad. I was there when tulsa and tcu were coming to norman and bitchslapping us around owen field in the 90's. To tell me i'm not a fan when i watched those teams and damn near cryed my way back to the car because my sooners were beaten i felt beaten as well lol. But i also remember the game when syracuse came to town during the blake years and we pulled off an upset i guess you could call that when corey ivy blocking a field goal to win the game by 1 pt. I was there through all those times so to tell me i cant be a fan when my family has donated thousands of dollars to the university i guess its just a damn shame that the money donated to the university was spent on tickets and donors club fees and not on my tuition costs. I guess i was cheated there. But guess what i wouldnt trade watching those bad teams for a piece of paper from OU because I'm a soonerfan whether i went to school their or not. Sorry so long, just didnt think i'd have to explain the reason im a fan of OU.

person that got myself & two other musicians here, was an OU student...(Roy Lee Nelson). we arrived in approx. oct. of '71. Roy and his girlfriend were STUDENTS ( AND LATER OU ALUMS) and had season tickets. when his mate didn't want to go to a game, he'd give her ticket to someone else (I HOPE THIS DOESN'T GET HIS DEGREE TAKEN AWAY FROM HIM). i'd NEVER been to a college football game EVER! at that time, i rooted for auburn (the consistant underdog to alabama). my FIRST COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAME TO SEE IN PERSON WAS THE 1971 OU vs neb. GAME!!!

well excuse me for being 'a stranger in a strange land' (thx Leon Russell...i played in a band with his cousin, Jack Myers..keyboards) but AUCTUALLY BEING THERE, AT OWEN FIELD, (my first EVER college game) FOR THE 'GAME OF THE CENTURY', TURNED ME INTO AN ETERNAL OKLAHOMA SOONER FAN! i had NEVER been exposed to that kind of emotion before, and i know i never will be again.

Any person who does not do the O-S-U-SUCKS chant at the end of the 3rd quarter at every home football game is not a true Sooner fan, but merely a fairweather fan who fails to recognize that our biggest rival is not Texas, but OSU. Root for your alma mater not mine. It's probably some JuCo or High School but that's fine. Be proud or yourself but don't try to be a Sooner if you do not have a diploma from OU.

Honestly, I can somewhat tolerate you non-OU-diploma-bearing-folks as long as you don't get a tattoo of the OU logo or the Sooner Schooner or anything else affiliated with my University.
