If it passes in Nebraska(and that is far from a lock, this year, stupid term limits made all the outgoing senators introduce every stupid bill they could think of, and there isn't much time in a 60 day session), I may go ahead and get a licensce and gun just to be on the safe side, although I wouldn't carry regularly, but I want the option just in case I feel it neccesarry. My only knowledge of guns is of shotguns, which don't conceal well, so SO gun people, what would be a good handgun?

After extensive research for my wants and needs I settled on a 9mm S&W 3913 with +P Gold Dot HP's.

Light, compact, accurate, 9 shots, easy to shoot, and a safety - which I like.

You wouldn't call it gay to it's face.

Also have a 908.

Well, I would, but I'd also add a NTTAWWT so as not to offend. :D

The arguments are endless but from what I've found in comparison ballistics tests, the 9mm in the above +P configuration offers plenty of lethality without over-penetrating the chest cavity like a .45 is prone to do.

And if I'm worried about getting the job done, I will shoot them several times.

I doubt many bad guys are gonna ask whether that was a 9mm or a .45 they were double-tapped with.

yep, like Fords and Chevys, you're just gonna 'like' one better than the other. I dig the 45's! :D

also, where's the best place to conceal the weapon?

at this point in your life you probably don't need a concealed weapons license.

That's personal preference.

I go with strong side draw in waist band or on belt.

www.packing.org can answer most all questions you would evar have.

just be careful when you put the gun in the holster.

there was a cop in Wichita last year who shot himself in the leg. He was trying out a concealed carry holster and put his glock in it--had his finger by the trigger, bumped it on the holster and BANG.

kinda funny, actually. (well... ironic, i suppose)

I didn't say it accidentally went off. I said he had his finger on the trigger and caught his finger on the holster causing him to pull the trigger and the gun to fire, which is generally how they're supposed to work ;)

I read a deal where some dingus goes into a stall to take a dump and didn't know what to do with his unholstered Glock, so he hung it on the coat hook in the stall - and the trigger hits the hook and fires and then the recoil caused it to continue firing -

bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam

Heh.

heh. I don't know that I'd believe it though since I think most glocks have a 5 lb. trigger pull (or something like that) and the glock doesn't weigh nearly that much... since it's plastic.

Well I read it on the internet so it must be the truth.

we had a Marine reservist that had been called up for Enduring Freedom that was playing quick draw one night while standing a post that shot himself in the foot.

So when his unit was sent back he was stuck on a med hold.

It really is a great gun.

Tack driver with an ambidextrious safety, which is great - being left-handed.

Also much cheaper to practice with than a .40 or .45.
