I don't totally understand what the point is. An NFL guy spends 10k at Best Buy and Best Buy donates 10k to that player's foundation.

It's like gameshows with rich people on them. "For participating, you get this free HD TV!" Even though they have six at home. That always hacks me off!

If I donate to PBS, they send me a free t-shirt, though I have dozens of them at home. The rich people are giving their time for free... it doesn't hurt the gameshow, which is making money off the celebrity's appearance, to give them an honorarium (sp?) of some kind. The celebrity might indeed give that to charity too. If it makes them feel appreciated and do more in the future, it helps out the cause in the long run.

I would be shocked if celebrities are not paid to be on gameshows.
