one of the guys i work for is big into coin collecting....he's helping me get a coin that i want

anyway, so he asks me "who are the only 3 african americans to ever be on a coin?"

i'll take guesses before i give the answers.......no googling! :)

ok i have an answer.....Christopher Columbus appeared on a commemorative half dollar in 1892....it was always a version of liberty (walking, seated, etc), until Lincoln appeared on a coin in 1909.....G. Washington didnt appear till 1932

Public Law 105-124 specifies that "no portrait of a living person shall be included in any design," prohibits any "head and shoulder portrait or bust of any person, living or dead," and gives the Secretary of the Treasury final approval of each design, with the direction that he "shall not select any frivolous or inappropriate design."
