I am all for America building new nuclear power plants, and surrounding them with wind farms. If I had a backyard, I would let them put it in it. I think reembracing nuclear power would be good for america.

yeah, just put them all in Nebraska

By the way, I'm not sure how I feel about being out-kinged by yermom. :eddie:;)

We already got two, with plenty of space for more, plus if we get casino's there can be combo nuke plants/casino's.

We need to solve the electromagnetic field containment problem, and then fusion is the answer.

i actually was using the other king for a while before, but got some complaints :D

Ike needs to get on that.

i'm all for it after last month's gas bill.

If I get to roll around in the waste and gain superpowers, then heck, why not?

i live about 10 miles from a nuclear plant. never think twice about it. also fixed reactors whilst in the navy for 2 years. i say yes!!!! around here, everyone has their lithium tablets. if that thing goes off, i'm driving right up to it - end it quick.

huh? I figured that out years ago. Didn't realize someone needed it. Who do I call? Al Gore?

First fusion plants, then plasma guns. and someday, lightsabers. ;)

I'm all for it. I operated and maintained two reactors in the Navy, and the guys who worked outside on the main deck got more radiation (from the Sun) than I did working 20 feet from the reactor compartments. It can be an entirely safe and very reliable alternative to what we have now.

The waste is the problem though. Now that we have Iraq, that place has to be good for something. ;)

I was in the 5th and 6th grade when all the Black Fox plant stuff happened. I still think it was mistake to not go through with that.

What about that cold fusion thing...I will be the one who perfects it....by accident of course :D

I represented one of the Defendants in the trespass case that came out of the Black Fox protests. Hearing Edward Teller testify as an expert on behalf of the Defendants convinced me that nuclear power plants are simply not the way to go.

Waste handling/disposal is simply not at a stage where we can safely generate that much nuclear waste. The testimony on burying the stuff is always to the effect that it will be buried in concrete vaults that will contain it for 500 years without any leakage.

Two questions come as a result of that statement. 1) Where is the prototype vault that has been tested for 500 years and found not to permit any leakage; and, 2) Given that plutonium has a half life of 2,500 years (some of you chemists can correct that number but it is my best recollection), what good does it do to contain it for 500 years.

Buried? Yes, same place we find our ground water aquifers.

nanotubes...then we can just shoot the nuke waste into space...towards the sun...
