Sooooo, would TU and fam be the shredded coconut in Chocolapolis?;)

I heard the story this morning, I think the guy is really losing it. He needs to figure out a way to attract the flippin' tax base home and stop slinging carp up against the wall to see what sticks. IMHO, unless approximate pre-storm levels of people with incomes return, its going to be like Haiti down there this summer.

Maybe Mayor LaFortune (Tulsa), could help him get the Superdome back in business.

"Chocolapolis"... I like it! Nagin has evidently been spending all day apologizing. I think the stress is just wearing him down. He's not a bad guy, or stupid, but he's been hiking up and down his tongue for the past few weeks, methinks.

Can you possibly imagine the wall-to-wall media upheaval if a mayor of a (used to be) major American city made a speech about making his a Vanilla City? My friends, racism is alive and well in NOLA and its face looks very much like Ray Nagin's. The d00d needs to resign and go hang out with Harry Belafonte.

In the meantime, look up the word "demagogue," they prolly have his picture next to the definition.

Hasn't there been media upheaval about what Nagin said?

There has been some outcry about Nagin's comments. I just wonder if it would be the same pitch if it were more like this.

According to the Times Picayune, David Duke said, “"We ask white people ... It’s time for us to come together. It’s time for us to rebuild New Orleans — the one that should be an all white New Orleans," Duke said Monday. "This city will be a majority Caucasian city. It’s the way God wants it to be. You can’t have New Orleans no other way. It wouldn’t be New Orleans."

None of them appear to be clamoring for Nagin's resignation, like many did when Trent Lott (former Ole Miss male cheerleader NTTAWWT) said something nice about flippin' 99 y/o Strom Thurmond at the poor old guy's last birthday party.

There has been some. But C Ray spent the whole day apologizing, so he doesn't look so much like a racist, just an overwhelmed man (as someone said) "not fit to run an American city" larger than, say, Cordell. I must have heard "chocolate city" a zillion times today, on the street and on the radio. It's the great joke phrase of the day. As others have observed, racism is pretty much a one way street, but Nagin has not exactly skated on this gaff. I think I'm going to the print shop tomorrow to get a few hundred bumper stickers that say "Chocolapolis - Proud to call it home!"

One thing that was overlooked: He did call out the segment of "chocolate" population that's been shooting people and stuff. He said they have got to get their act together. That's something a white pol, or Jefferson Parish's Chinese cowboy Sheriff Harry Lee, would have got tarred and feathered for saying. Maybe, maybe, at last, with this and with Hilary's idiotic plantation remark, even the media will get tired of seeing the race card dealt from the bottom of the deck. ehhh prob'ly not

Reverse racism at it's finest! had enough of it already- he should resign.... or bust out with a vanilla swirl from DQ and appologize for the nation.

Has Vicente Fox said anything about his comments about the Mexicans? Ol' Fox likes to take shots at us when we talk about border security and other issues. Didn't hear if he has put an enchilada embargo on New Orleans yet ;)
