Well, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell listen to a bunch of no-talent rock star wannabees, then pick the least offensive ones to go to Hollywood and try out for the show.

Going to dinner with 2 other girls...not much to tell!

Nope. I've no interest in seeing the bad singers they put on TV just to exploit them for a cheap laugh. I talked to a girl who tried out for the last Idol and she told me that they go through seven rounds of auditions with the producers before they even get a chance to get in front of Paula, Simon, and Randy. At each stage, the producers will intentionally pass through a certain number of bad singers, all the while telling them that they're good, just so they can put bad singers on national TV and humiliate them. Of course, in the process, they send home thousands upon thousands of talented people who never even had a shot.

The audition process is a complete made-for-TV sham. Now, I have no reason to believe that the competition isn't legit (aside from the telephone voting problems they've had) once they get the finalists set, but up to that point, it's not.

The auditions are my favorite part. I can only hope that my cousins wife getting shot down by Simon for the 2nd time makes it on air in this season

I'm sure they have to sign waivers to be humiliated on national television. I have no sympathy

the whole show is a sham.

One big karaoke contest.

Learn to play the f'ing guitar or some other instrument, play in **** hole bars and road houses for a few years and then, if you have some fans, you can say that you are talented.

It's the deal about telling them that they're good and passing them through, until they get to the TV audition and the three amigos tell them they really suck and don't they know that?

That's what bothers me.

do you really think they don't know they suck? I mean..surely they've heard themselves sing before. If they think they're that good, they must've videotaped themselves and watched it before.

The only show gayer/gheyer than American Idol is The Bachelor. Unfortunately, my wife watches both, but little does she know that her Tivo season passes for the two are no more as of an hour ago. :D

The only way i'd tune into American Idol is to see how "lit" up Paula is with the Vicodin and Xanax combo.

This is exactly what last year's runner up Bo Bice did. He is a very talented musician, and I have seen him play at local bars and such for several years. I wish he had some other route that wasn't American Idol to get to where he is (I believe this show will do nothing to further his career - or his music.) Ruben Studdard also played various places around Birmingham before going on AI. I personally don't like the show (my wife loves it). I watched it with her one night last year and saw Bo on there and was shocked that he had gone to audition.

Ok, so I hear that our very own Patrick Fletcher is going to be on there and apparently made it to Hollywood. I also heard this on the sports animal, which are the same bastards that kept saying that Ozzy Osborne was going to be at the Hornets game. Bastards.

I'm really tempted to call his mom to find out. Pfletch does have a pretty good voice though.

Yeah, he didn't even know the song that he sang was called. Didn't the judges ask him twice.

The cop really freaked me out, because he kept singing the same phrase
"I shot the sheriff, but i didn't shoot the deputy"

that team has a chance to be good--if we can go 1-2 in the stretch of TX, KSU, and NU we have a chance to go bowling.
