I work in downtown Tulsa.

The MLK parade will come prancing by my window this afternoon.

I feel sorry for them having to parade in the middle of January.

More news as it happens.

If I was required to work today, it would probably be close to my office too.

If the MLK parade had to rumble with the Veteran's Day parade - I'd put my money on the Veteran's Day parade.

The Lesbian Pride parade would kick both their asses.

The parade never happened!

What'd they do - have it Saturday?

7 years here and it's always been.

WTF?

Yeah, they relocated it to the historical black part of town:

"MLK Commemorative Parade"
Monday, January 16, 10 a.m.
Parade forms at Pine Street and Cincinnati Ave. and proceeds east on Pine to Greenwood Ave, south on Greenwood through the Greenwood Business District. A Rally, sponsored by Langston University-Tulsa, will feature presentation of parade trophies immediately following the parade in the Main Hall Commons, 700 N. Greenwood Ave.
The parade will be televised from 10 a.m. to Noon on KTUL-Channel 8.

I find it a bit ironic that Tulsa would have a MLK parade, given their history.....

anyone else?

I assume you're refering to the Race Riot of forever ago?

If cities wtih poor race relations from back in the day were not allowed MLK parades, there wouldn't be one anywhere. And if there weren't poor race relations in cities from back in the day, then there probably wouldn't be a huge need to honor MLK, Jr thus rendering the parade unnecessary.

I would think it much more ironic to see the Klan marching today.
